'Twas The Night
'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, and I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned, the dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning with anticipation,
The thought of a snack became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
Till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground!
I crashed through the ceiling.
Floating into the sky,
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees...
Happy eating to all! Pass the cranberries, please!

More Monday Madness
Oops, somehow I missed today's...
1. I have little or no patience when it comes to untrained dogs.
2. I wish I could spend more time exercising.
3. The most productive thing I accomplished this past weekend was writing letters.
4. The most enjoyable thing I did this weekend was dinner with friends.
5. I've always wanted to learn how to do sign language.
6. If money wasn't an issue, I'd buy more cameras.
7. I blog because it's my release, my own, and I meet new friends.

I received an email from a mother whose son is currently fighting in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division. He and his platoon have penned a message to the American public that is a little different from the message we are getting via the MSM. He asked his mom to help get this message out and she asked me. Here it is from the soldiers on the ground…
Mom,
Be my voice. I want this message heard. It is mine and my platoon’s to the country. A man I know lost his legs the other night. He is in another company in our batallion. I can no longer be silent after watching the sacrifices made by Iraqis and Americans everyday. Send it to a congressman if you have to. Send it to FOX news if you have to. Let this message be heard please…
My fellow Americans, I have a task for those with the courage and fortitude to take it. I have a message that needs not fall on deaf ears. A vision the blind need to see. I am not a political man nor one with great wisdom. I am just a soldier who finds himself helping rebuild a country that he helped liberate a couple years ago.
I have watched on television how the American public questions why their mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters are fighting and dying in a country 9000 miles away from their own soil. Take the word of a soldier, for that is all I am, that our cause is a noble one. The reason we are here is one worth fighting for. A cause that has been the most costly and sought after cause in our small span of existence on our little planet. Bought in blood and paid for by those brave enough to give the ultimate sacrifice to obtain it. A right that is given to every man, woman, and child I believe by God. I am talking of freedom.
Freedom. One word but yet countless words could never capture it’s true meaning or power. “For those who have fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know.” I read that once and it couldn’t be more true. It’s not the average American’s fault that he or she is “blind and deaf” to the taste of freedom. Most Americans are born into their God-given right so it is all they ever know. I was once one of them. I would even dare to say that it isn’t surprising that they take for granted what they have had all their life. My experiences in the military however opened my eyes to the truth.
Ironically you will find the biggest outcries of opposition to our cause from those who have had no military experience and haven’t had to fight for freedom. I challenge all of those who are daring enough to question such a noble cause to come here for just a month and see it first hand. I have a feeling that many voices would be silenced.
I watched Cindy Sheehan sit on the President’s lawn and say that America isn’t worth dying for. Later she corrected herself and said Iraq isn’t worth dying for. She badmouthed all that her son had fought and died for. I bet he is rolling over in his grave.
Ladies and gentleman I ask you this. What if you lived in a country that wasn’t free? What if someone told you when you could have heat, electricity, and water? What if you had no sewage systems so human waste flowed into the streets? What if someone would kill you for bad-mouthing your government? What if you weren’t allowed to watch TV, connect to the internet, or have cell phones unless under extreme censorship? What if you couldn’t put shoes on your child’s feet?
You need not have a great understanding of the world but rather common sense to realize that it is our duty as HUMAN BEINGS to free the oppressed. If you lived that way would you not want someone to help you????
The Iraqis pour into the streets to wave at us and when we liberated the cities during the war they gathered in the thousands to cheer, hug and kiss us. It was what the soldiers in WW2 experienced, yet no one questioned their cause!! Saddam was no better than Hitler! He tortured and killed thousands of innocent people. We are heroes over here, yet Americans badmouth our President for having us here.
Every police station here has a dozen or more memorials for officers that were murdered trying to ensure that their people live free. These are husbands, fathers, and sons killed every day. What if it were your country? What would your choice be? Everything we fight for is worth the blood that may be shed. The media never reports the true HEROISM I witness everyday in the Iraqis. Yes, there are bad one’s here, but I assure you they are a minuscule percent. Yet they are a number big enough to cause worry in this country’s future.
I have watched brave souls give their all and lose their lives and limbs for this cause. I will no longer stand silent and let the “deaf and blind” be the only voice shouting. Stonewall Jackson once said, “All that I have, all that I am is at the service of the country.” For these brave souls who gave the ultimate sacrifice, including your son Cindy Sheehan, I will shout till I can no longer. These men and women are heroes. Their spirit lives on in their military and they will never be forgotten. They did not die in vain but rather for a cause that is larger than all of us.
My fellow countrymen and women, we are not overseas for our country alone but also another. We are here to spread democracy and freedom to those who KNOW the true taste of it because they fight for it everyday. You can see the desire in their eyes and I am honored to fight alongside them as an Infantryman in the 101st Airborne.
Freedom is not free, but yet it is everyone’s right to have. Ironic, isn’t it? That is why we are here. Though you will always have the skeptics, I know that most of our military will agree with this message. Please, at the request of this soldier spread this message to all you know. We are in Operation Iraqi Freedom and that is our goal. It is a cause that I and thousands of others stand ready to pay the ultimate sacrifice for because, Cindy Sheehan, freedom is worth dying for, no matter what country it is! And after the world is free only then can we hope to have peace.

Check out the purple sky from the other night. I kept forgetting that I took it. Pretty, eh?
We had dinner with neighbors last night, it was really nice. I know I've mentioned this many times, but it's just such a nice change to just hang out, have a few Heinekens (or wine for others) and talk. I miss talking sometimes. Which is funny since I hate being on the phone.
We had homemade tacos, even deep fried tortillas for taco shells. We played Yahtzee, which I haven't played in years and years. Another couple played darts. Nice music, No TV. It's such the simple life up here that it is refreshing. Even though I do complain about boredom alot. It is so wild to me that there are still families that play board games and kids that play outside.
I even know a few up here who don't have TV's or computers.....eeks can you imagine?? I would certainly lose my mind.
Actually up higher in the mountains there are families without power and running water. Eeks again.
I'll tell you now, we are not that mountain-like. Which I guess you figured out after you saw the truck we just bought :)
There is definitely a different mentality up here. Everyone wears guns or carries one somewhere, truck etc. I don't do either.
Many are not very clean, or have beards down to their chests.
Everyone has horses, cows and dogs. All dogs ride with the owners everywhere, and usually in the back of a pick-up, which I hate. Of course, that gives Hub more business.
All the women have long straight hair. Which makes more sense to me now, since there are no hair salons around. Or, not any I would go to. That's why my hair has gotten so long.
When in Rome I guess.
I won't be growing a beard or stop bathing though. No worries:)

Tired, And I wanna go home.........
It has been a VERY long day, I'm just now getting home. Being gone all day reminded me of how much I love being home--alone! Uggh.
I do though, now have my brand new truck..and it is AWESOME.

Beliefs
I had a neighbor stop by for awhile last night. They told me that our neighbors across the way lost their four old son.
They are missionaries and he contracted some kind of disease while out of the country. They are a certain religion and don't believe in seeing doctors.
They believed that God would handle it.
He died in his fathers arms.
Details are still sketchy.
I'm still not sure what to think.
I guess sometimes your beliefs are that strong. They believed if God took him, then there was a reason.
I believe sometimes that things happen for a reason, but I'm not sure I could have let my son die without medical treatment.
Of course I'm not them, I wasn't there, and I know nothing about their religion.
I think I'm going to read up a bit about it today and I'll get back to ya.

Dr. Dr...Give me the news.....
Well I have a little time to play around before I head to the Big City. I forget that Idaho is an hour earlier than me. Definitely don't want to go sit in a waiting room too early!
Nobody gets lollipops?? Actually I have noticed here in Montana, that most businesses you go to have bowls of candy out. I like :)
It's 33 degrees this morning, foggy and wet. Need.More.Snow.
I'm starting to get used to typing on the laptop..but won't miss it.
I did find out that my migraines that I've been getting for many many years might be associated with my jaw. (hence, appt's today).
If ya'll remember awhile back I had gone to the orthodontist to look into braces and found out that my jaw is not lined right. They discussed jaw surgery, which I was not very excited about.
I have found out now, I have other options, will take awhile, and will cost......
Are you ready??
With treatment and braces, it will be about $10,000.

So, lots of poking and prodding today, bleh.
Bloodwork, double bleh.
Ice cream aftewards....KEWL.

Dreams
I had the strangest dream last night. I won't go into every detail, but it did involve animals in my yard. YES, I know that is normal around here, but some were odd animals and they all wanted in the house. In my dream I was afraid that the alligator was going to hurt the dog, and the dog was growling at the lizard. I got the bear to go away by giving him a toy.
Anyway, I went to Dreammoods just to see what the animals meant. I don't usually look up my dreams, but it is interesting that there is a fact in each of these descriptions that fits me perfectly in my life today.
Alligator:

It's 5:30 am and it's snowing outside. That's all I got.
I sit here and stare at this screen and I have nothing to tell ya.
It's been a very quiet week so far. In many ways I have no complaints about that.
No choking animals, no fire danger, no bear.
But, I have nothing to post about.
I haven't taken any photos this week, tsk-tsk.
Too bad I can't share my camera with Laura. :)
I want to make my own redhead site, so if any of ya'll have any cool redhead info, or pics or poetry, send it my way :)
I use my porch now for the beer cooler.
I've got deer regularly sleeping in the yard now. I guess they want to be first in line
for breakfast.
The raccoons are still here nightly, and the flying squirrels have returned.
Now there's an awesome site if you haven't seen one. They only show up at night though, so no good pics.
It's 6:18am now. Geez..I'm boring myself now.
I'm outta here.
Ya'll go do the right thing.

I actually heard a mountain lion the other night, I'm sure he was going after dinner. It was a little scary. I've been instructed to carry a gun with me when I go out. I just can't see me doing this. Strap on the ol' holster to go feed the horses.
I think (hope) everyone is done cussing me on The Crimson Room. Geesh..who knew ya'd be so sensitive??? :)
oh and prayers out to Laura who's camera died this week and has to go to a camera hospital. I know what a huge loss this is for her.

Jurors found in favor of Kenneth Slaby of Pittsburgh in his civil case against Gail O'Toole of Murrysville after three days of testimony and ordered the payment for pain, suffering and emotional distress, according to television station KDKA. "For all the pain and suffering I've been through, and the embarrassment, I don't think it's enough," Slaby told reporters after the verdict. Slaby's lawsuit said the two broke up in 1999 after dating for 10 months, and he began dating someone else. After he broke up with his other girlfriend, Slaby said, O'Toole invited him over to her home on May 7, 2000, where he fell asleep. He said he woke up to find that O'Toole had used Super Glue to stick his genitals to his abdomen, glued his buttocks together and spelled out a profanity on his back in nail polish. Slaby said O'Toole told him that her actions were payback for their breakup, and he had to walk a mile to a gas station to call for help. He pressed charges and O'Toole pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and spent six months on probation. But O'Toole's attorney contended that the incident was nothing more than part of the couple's adventurous, consensual sex.

Wildflower
I don't have much to talk about today. It's been very quiet and I've been very lazy. I guess I'm preparing for two weeks with no Hub.
I found out today that the deer love pumpkin. I smashed it up and threw it out onto the lawn. They love it :)
It's been snowing off and on all day but nothing sticking yet. It's 36 now, and supposed to be lower 20's tonight so maybe I'll have something on the ground in the morning.

Trip...Continues
More photos of the ride home. This is about 15 minutes from our house. This is another view of the Clark Fork River that I showed you the other day. Usually, on a good day you can see right through this water. I will still try to catch that. Today is very cold and windy, so not a great shot.
On our way home from Helena we went to an old prison that hasn't been used in a little over 20 years. It was VERY cool. We toured it by ourselves, which was cool and a little creepy. They say it's haunted, but I didn't experience anything except the Hub trying to scare me. Yes, he thinks he's funny.
I've still got to work on those shots...but it was a pretty cool place.
One wierd thing----I charged my camera battery in the hotel room, but everytime I went to take pics inside of the prison, my battery would act like it was going to die. I was so pissed! Then I would go back outside and it would be fully charged. When I went to take pics in "The Hole" of the prison, which was awful by the way, the camera acted like it was going to die again. Back outside..it was fine, fully charged. Ooooo-weeeee-Oooooo.

Seinfeld
I'm in Helena. I have an awful dial-up connection and no mouse. uggh.
Just wanted to tell ya'll that Seinfeld was AWESOME.
Great show. All new stuff. He was great. I had a great time :)
I had forgotten what it was like to act like a real person again.
Wear nice clothes, make-up....even earrings!! WooHoo!
I couldn't get any pics, even though we did have some awesome seats. The camera phone just didn't cut it. Bleh.
Now I'm sitting in a hotel room with two nervous dogs and two Heinekins.
I'll tell ya'll more about the actual road trip when I have better internet connection.

I'll have my laptop as usual, but not sure how much I will use it. The Hub does have some veterinary business to tend to Saturday morning, so I may have some play time then :)

This is the Clark Fork River. We cross this everytime we leave our little town.
It's rare that the water is so still, so I stopped in the middle of the one lane bridge, got out of my car and got this shot.
I think the people in town are getting used to seeing me stopped in the road.
Eh, it's worth it :)

Culinary World Grieves....
It is with the saddest heart that we must pass on the following news.
Please join us in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin.
Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, HungryJack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.
Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers.
He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.
Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; two children, John Dough and Jane Dough; plus the bun they had in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.
The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
