Everybody Dance

Stylin'

The shoes are here. Pink & Silver.. I know you're envious. ALL of you.

As for the run training, I've missed the last couple of days because of soreness from horse-fall-ness. But.. all better today. My shoes arrived yesterday and it's really amazing the difference in shoes. Thanks to my expert trainer, Stacie :)

Oh and Deb... I have a treadclimber from Bowflex which I really love, but it's more 'steps' than running. The treadmill I have is just a basic treadmill from Target I think. I don't remember the name. I like to alternate between the two somedays. I just prop them in front of the TV and go.
Hmmmm.... I wonder if someone would run in front of me in the race carrying a TV?

Not a whole lot new around here, still getting to the 30's at night, 50-60's during the day. I finally saw a couple of bear cubs the other night.

Otherwise, pretty uneventful around here.

The Ride

Went to see Marble at school again today, and we decided to take a ride with her. It's pretty impressive how much she's learned and how well behaved she is now. There were three of us on horses along with one loose horse that was still learning. ( Well, not loose, but not ridden )
The loose horse got spooked by something and freaked out. In turn, this horse took off running in circles around us, scaring the horses we were riding. This horse came hurling towards my horse and freaked my horse out. My horse spun around and headed off in the opposite direction of everyone else.

The trainer tried to get off the horse he was riding to come to me, as I KNEW I couldn't stay on or handle an out of control horse. ( Which, I had warned them before we ever started). When he jumped off his horse, it then freaked out too, all caused by the spooked loose horse, and he had problems controlling his own horse.

**Now let me break in here and say that this trainer is awesome. He's like a horse whisperer. He has Marble follow all directions practically by sign language. She will stop just by the way he looks at her. It's very impressive.**

Anyway.. My horse was running and freaked, so my choice was either to fall off or bail. I knew I wasn't going to have much choice anyway. I started to just slide to the side and just dropped. The main thing on my mind was to get my feet out of the stirrups, which I did with no problem. I hit the ground pretty good, my thumb was caught a bit in the reigns, but I was able to get it out. The horse went right over me and kept going.
I got up, dusted myself off, I knew my thumb was a bit injured. I then looked for the hubs and Marble. Marble had stayed in complete control and just stopped. Hubs was pretty ahead of us and didn't see my horse freak and me fall off. He had Marble still with three other horses running like mad, so he stayed where he was. I then stayed where I was too, although these horses were still out of control.

Another trainer came out of a house nearby to help our trainer control the horses. By eye contact and hand motions, both men were able to get these horses to stop and walk right up to them calmly. It was wild to watch. The horses were then calm and walked right back to their stables and put away.

We decided the ride was over.

The mistake that was made, and of course realized very quickly, was that the new trainee (the un-ridden horse) shouldn't have been brought along for the ride. The trainer realized his mistake and was of course very apologetic. No injuries really except my thumb :)
We'll try again another time.

I'm starting to feel it now of course, hitting the ground from the tallest horse on the ride that day. But, I know it could have been a lot worse.

33 degrees this morning and snow on the mountaintops.
I think Winter is coming early this year.

You Know I Had To

Passing It On

Let's all go to New York and visit this Woman.

Hopefully in her next life she'll come back as a litter box.

13 of My Thoughts

1. Okay.. there's a commercial running right now for a deodorant and the girl walks the streets with her arms up in the air. That has to be one of the DUMBEST commercials I've seen in a long time.

2. The 'right-click' on my mouse died just recently. Do you realize how often you really use it? So I tried to decide, is it cheaper to order it online and pay for shipping, or cheaper to drive the hour to a store, and an hour back? I went with online shopping.

3. I approached a second store here in MT about carrying my cards. Cross your fingers :)

4. I also was hired to take some real estate photos of a ranch in town. Kinda cool, I thought.

5. I'm seriously thinking of doing a run with Stacie in March in Orlando (hear that PQ??). It's still up in the air, and it really really depends on if I can get my butt moving on the treadmill again. Cross your fingers, again :)
(*after talking to Stacie for awhile, I'm more convinced I should do it)

6. I guess I'm the last person to know what "Twilight" is and why everyone's always talking about Edward Cullen.

7. Awesome Cowboys game on Monday.. didja see it? I even have my Romo jersey. Oh and the plasma TV will be here next week :)

8. No Wii just yet, but soon. I wonder if that will help me with my run training? I asked for a punching bag too. Not sure of the status on that yet.

9. Sometimes at night, for mindless TV, I pop on Nick at Nite and watch Home Improvement. Hey.. it makes me laugh. Sometimes, before the show I get to hear the ending of Spongebob Squarepants. I don't think I've ever heard more annoying noises. Who can actually sit through an entire episode??

10. We had our lowest temp so far the other night, 35 degrees. I don't think my tomatoes are going to survive :(. Looks like there will be lots of chow-chow this year.

11. Which reminds me, I haven't made jam in awhile and I have tons of frozen berries. Good winter/cold weather job.

12. I visited Marble at school yesterday. She's doing so well and so smart :) I can't wait until she comes home.

13. I've almost cut diet coke out of my daily routine. I may have one a day, if even that. Pretty impressive for an old diet coke addict :)

Hmm.. what else? Could there be more than 13?

14. The turkeys now follow me around when I'm outside.. I guess they like that corn.

15. Still no visible bear, even though I know they're there.

16. Okay, that's it. Office Space is about to start and I'm outta here.

No Wonder I Have Printer Problems

She doesn't know yet....

Well, she gets to the V-e-t today. Ironic, eh? Too weird that I have to make an appt. and go to the v-e-t.
She's been sick for over a week, and being the knowledgeable mommy, I just watched closely and for certain signs. But.. I'll have to take her in. An hour drive to go to the v-e-t. Maybe I'll get some photos in.

A First

So, as you know, I occasionally get gifts from the cats. Many grasshoppers (usually alive, although sometimes missing legs), a mouse here and there (sometimes alive) and the occasional bird.

Yesterday, Jonesie has something in a box and is very excited about it. I'm thinking grasshopper and step over to take it away. No.. not a grasshopper, but a gecko. This is a first and was NOT easy at all to take away. Every cat wanted this poor thing and he tried his best to wiggle away as I'm trying to pick him up with one hand and the other hand is pushing cats away. Thank goodness no one had video.

First thing I noticed was that Jonesie had bit off his tail. Lovely. The gecko didn't seem to mind. I finally captured him and released him outside.
As I came back in, I noticed now that Sinclair had something in her mouth. She was very intent on keeping it. At first I thought it was a big worm, but as I got closer I realized it was the gecko's tail.

The wild thing was it was still moving!! It was like the tail was still on the body. I took it away and set it on a paper towel and it just kept wiggling. Freaky.

I threw it away.
No re-attachment surgery here.

**maybe I should have kept it for Stacie :)

His Favorite Show is On

It's Time...

Wow.. it's been awhile since I've written anything here. I guess I've decided to express myself more through photography than words. I wonder if it's working?

Just recently I saw words I wasn't supposed too. By the way of a couple of email forwards/replies and conversations between other people, I saw words about me. It honestly wasn't viewing something I wasn't supposed too or sneakily, but merely an accident where these people weren't paying attention to where the words were going.

What hit me was that although the words weren't necessarily untrue, seeing it in print was a bit of an "ouch". I am definitely one who can see my own faults and what my words here, or my photos might say, to see someone else make those statements about me set me back a bit. Basically an "ouch".

My feelings aren't necessarily hurt I guess, but it does make you take stock. I guess you should always be careful on the internet and emails, what you say about others. I guess you can pick out your own faults and it's okay, but when you see other people talking about them, it's surprising in a way.

Anyway.. just one of those things that happens that makes you stop and reflect about yourself.

So on to something else....

The bear are back. I haven't seen one personally yet, but they did manage to steal a couple of bird feeders the other night. What's funny of course, and again I would call "leesa's law", is I had just said that night at dinner that I needed to bring the feeders in because it's about that time. heh.
It's already starting to feel more winter-ish than fall-ish. We got wood ready for the fireplace, turned off the sprinkler systems and exchanged flip-flops and sandals for boots and waterproof shoes. Even the flannels and jackets came out. Lowest so far at night = 43. I'm ready for winter again.... bring it on.
Course, don't quote me if we get snow like last year ;)

Our poor gardens might not make it, as the tomatoes are still green and the peppers pretty small. I need to invest in a greenhouse.

Football season starts this weekend, and I talked the hubs into switching TV's with me. If you recall from Seattle, I purchased a 52" plasma HD TV for the house there. Well, I've rarely been able to spend time there, so he's going to switch with me. He's not a big TV or sports guy anyway, so no arguments there. I'm excited :) The Wii should be pretty fun on it too I bet.

Well..I can't think of anything else. Time for some kind of lunch.
