Not much exciting here today. Still have sick cats, Grizzly is the worst. I'm trying to catch him and put him in the bathroom with a humidifier. I think someone leaked that to him, because I haven't been able to catch him since I came up with this idea.
Terri Schaivo died today, may she finally rest in peace. Of course now the family and husband are fighting over her body. Sheesh........move on already.
I opened the woodstove today to stock it some and it was more smokey than usual, it set off the smoke alarms...what a mess!! Have you ever seen cats walk up walls? That was 20 minutes ago and the cats are still stressed out!
G comes home tomorrow, which means life will return to normal. At least for the 4 days he's home.
I think I will make cookies today. Alton "Good Eats" has an awesome recipe that is a favorite around here! He uses cake flour and they are so sweet and chewy! I used the chocolate and peanut butter chips. Mmmmm, I can already taste them! Later!!!
***hey, where's that ARTFUL BLOGGER today?***

Quarantine
My cats are sick. They have an upper respiratory infection. It started out with one and gradually they are all getting it. I have 10 cats (yeah yeah, I know, we both worked in animal hospitals, need I say more?) 2 outdoors.
What fun this will be! Try medicating a cat that doesn't want to be...and by yourself on top of that! This always happens to me when G is out of town. I think someone up above just sits and laughs at the things that happen to me when G is gone.
***
*The horses have escaped three different times, all when he's gone.
*The heaviest snows have always been when he's gone. (Major shoveling)
*The animals always get sick. One even died two months ago. (Ok, that one wasn't funny)
*One of the horses got stuck under a fence. That was fun.
*A black bear chewed on my back doorknob. (No, not kidding)
*The washing machine flooded.
*We lose power pretty often, 10-15 minutes here and there. BUT, if it goes out for hours at a time, it's always when he's gone.
*Two of my indoor cats got out and went straight up the highest tree they could find. They would not come down. They sat up there for 6 hours. It was a hot day and they were overheating and stressing out. I finally coaxed them down on top of a very tall unstable ladder.
( Did I mention that G was out of town?) I'm sure there are many more I can't think of right now.
***
Anyway, I'm sure the illness will run it's course. I will medicate them if able. They look so pitiful with the drainy eyes and the sneezing.
One positive thing though, they aren't running around here like it's the KITTY 500. They usually save that for when I'm sleeping.
I can't own anything breakable. They think that anything they can pick up with their mouth is theirs.
I lose pens and hair ties constantly. I don't know how many hair bands I've purchased in my lifetime. Oh and they like to drop things into the toilet or water bowl. Not sure on that one. Especially toy mice. Maybe they think they are drowning them?
If you're interested you can see most of their pictures on www.Wildvizionz.com.
There names you ask?? Bustopher, Moose, Grizzly, Woof, Critter, Henderson, Tweet, River, Spaz and Tuna. (I like to be creative) Otis & Greycat live outside. They came with the house.
Ok, off to medicate!!

Leesa's Movie Reviews
Ok, has anyone seen Napolean Dynamite? At first I thought it was boring, and couldn't believe it was a movie. But as it went on it started to be funny. I watched it again (PPV, pay once can watch all day) and this time I laughed alot. Napolean's mannerisms and phrases are funny. I have a feeling these phrases will be the new thing. "Friggin Idiot!!" Check it out, you may have to watch it twice. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/ndsound.php
Ray is on this week too, would like to see that. I will give my review then :).

Life is back to normal today. George is in CA till friday, today is laundry/clean house day. I always do this after he leaves, so much easier!! Between him and Brock, this house stays dirty when he's home. They both bring in more dirt than anyone I've ever seen!!
We recently had all the floors done in our house, upstairs all Pergo, downstairs all vinyl. No more carpet for me!! It's too wet and muddy here, or dusty depending on season, and with pets you can't keep carpet clean. PLUS, have you ever used a steam cleaner and seen what comes out of your carpet? Blech-y.
Not that the Pergo is perfect, now I can see every footprint from every animal. Real cute. We have alot of windows in our house, so on a sunny day you can see every speck of dirt. Drives me crazy!!! Have they invented self cleaning floors yet?
***
I've been trying to come up with some kind of memorial for G with pictures and momento's of his son, David. I bought an album to put it all in, but it just doesn't do it for me. I can usually be creative, but nothing's coming to me. Any ideas?

Would you like Super Size? And other odd thoughts.........
We watched "Super Size Me" last night. Has anyone seen this?!? It was very interesting!! When I was in the 'big city' I might have had fast food once a week, or maybe a couple of times a week. Now that I'm in Montana, it might be once a month. I still like McDonalds, and will probably still have it now and then, minus Chicken McNuggets. If you see how those are made you would change your mind too.
It was really amazing what 30 days of ONLY McDonalds food did to this guys body. He gained 25 pounds in one month. His cholesterol shot up double. He developed fatty liver disease. Now, I know that most people don't eat McDonalds every day, but it was still something to think about.
***Another thing I thought about today, after Brock got ahold of a bottle of Nyquil, that most people don't know the odd things that can make your pet sick. They don't advertise this on TV.
Did you know that raisins can be toxic? They can cause kidney failure. Chocolate is toxic. Now if Brock, who's 100 pounds, got a snicker bar, he would probably be fine. But, coming from working in emergency animal hospital for 4 years, & my husband is a veterinarian board certified in emergency and critical care, we have seen the worst. We had a boston terrier come in that ate a 3 pound bag of M&Ms, he didn't make it. Baking chocolate is the worst.
Tylenol can kill your pet. One 365mg tablet or capsule and kill your dog, and will definitely kill your cat. If you feel for some reason that your pet needs a pain reliever, stick with Bayer. And of course, call your vet first. Techinicians can help you too in that area.
Those with the weak stomach stop here:
We had a dog come in one night that had his tongue ripped off in a paper shredder. He walked right in the office of his owner and somehow got his tongue stuck in the shredder. He no longer had a tongue when he made it to the hospital. Needless to say, it wasn't pretty.
Antifreeze can kill your pet. Just licking it off the driveway will kill them. You don't see this stuff on the labels, do you??
Socks and Pantyhose are bad things too. We have had to surgically remove pantyhose, socks and knee highs from dogs intestines and stomachs.
Rubberbands with cats are a bad thing. Icicles that you put on your christmas tree. Bottle caps, ribbon, tape from a cassette. We have removed all of these from very sick animals. Oh and dental floss!!! BAD BAD thing for pets to eat. It can get in there intestines and twist everything up.
Easter lilies are toxic to cats. I have personally seen that one.
Onions are toxic to dogs and cats. Minoxidel--a prescription topical hair growth treatment, a couple of drops on your cat can send them into heart failure.
TAMPONS-- we have had to remove those too. Used and unused. I know this isn't pretty conversation, but if you love your pets like I do, you'll take heed!!
Anyway, I don't know how I went from McDonalds to Tampons, but that is what has been on my mind today, and I LOVE to share my thoughts!!
I'll be back later!!

Vision
This is the awesome sunrise we woke up to this morning. This is the view off our deck, quite breathtaking, isn't it??
George is home and things are getting back to normal. We planted a tree today in David's memory.
It's still cold and we're still using the wood stove to heat the house, so we've been loading firewood most of the morning. It's very windy today, so I have alot of wood shavings in my eyes and my hair, lovely.
We checked the garden today, a few things are popping up! Strawberries and Asparagus and Onions are showing up slowly.
Our goofus Brock ran across the barely frozen pond this morning, we thought for sure he was going to fall right through!! I told George he would have been damn cold swimming in after him!
He's about 100 pounds, so I guess it's still pretty frozen!
We're still doing the chores, so I will be back later, I just wanted to share this sunrise!

Hunk-a-Dog
Just finished watching ER. It was sad. I thought I'd post a happy picture of our dog, Brock. I painted it in Photoshop to look like watercolor paints.

No way, Part 2
Actually, he was 10. They also arrested his teenage sister and brother and his fatherfor trying to bring Terri water. Wow. It really saddens me that Terri is starving to death right now. I understand that maybe Terri once said to her husband that she didn't want to live by machines, but it's not like a machine is controlling her breathing. She just has to be fed. Just like babies. Babies wouldn't live if we didn't feed them and care for them. I'm not one that usually gets all involved and takes sides, but this just doesn't feel right to me. Her husband has moved on and remarried, why does he care? Money?
Why can't the family who gave birth to her make these decisions? They are the ones that visit her everyday and take care of her. I can honestly say that I don't know Michael Shiavo's story, so I can't completely be against him, but it just does not feel right that a court or ex-husband can make the decision to pull a womans feeding tube and watch her starve to death over a few days time. It just feels so wrong to me.
That's about all that's new around here. George is doing much better today and will be home on Friday. He has decided to go back to work on Tues, but I knew he would. He wants to go back to his routine. George is a veterinarian in California. He travels there Tues-Fri each week and flies home Friday night, home Sat,Sun and Mon. Why does he work in California and live in Montana? He's board certified in Emergency and Critical Care. He trains residents in his specialty so that they can become board certified. Can't do that around here! The closest veterinary hospitals to us are each an hour away and we don't have any emergency animal hospitals that aren't 2-3 hours away.
It is nice when he is home to see the local pets. Our town was so happy when he moved in!! Everybody knew we were coming before we even got here. (Read 'Small Town Life' Post)
It's time to feed the herd. Who knows, I might be back later.

I was just looking at the news. They arrested a boy (I'm guessing 14 or 15?) for trying to take glass of water to Terri Schaivo. Can ya believe it?

Small Town Life
You know, everytime I sit here and think" Man I'm getting so bored in this small town. I miss the malls! I miss pizza delivery!! I miss going to Friday's and having beer and appetizers", somethink like a school shooting happens. Man, what next? I hate turning on the news these days.
The worst thing that has happened in our town in the last 3 years, is mailbox bashing, and some graffiti. We've had three mailboxes so far!!
I love that there's no crime. I love that I'm not scared to be home alone. The only thing that scares me is going outside at night during bear season.
My biggest concerns here is keeping the wood stove going, and feeding animals. It's nice. I'm lucky. The deer are staring at me as I type.
We have to drive over an hour for a Walmart, Home Depot, or fast food. Two and half hours to an airport. Two hours to the closest Aveda salon!! (That's a killer). I love fancy salons and Aveda products. Thanks goodness for online shopping. I have learned that I can get almost anything delivered to my house. I've become quite the hermit.
Schwans delivers food. I know my UPS guy personally. My dogs love the UPS guy, he brings them cookies. Of course, now they expect cookies from ANY delivery guy. Actually they expect cookies from anyone that comes to the door. Thanks UPS guy!
"Somtimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name" (Cheers music inserted here).
That's another small town quality. Good or Bad? I'm not sure yet. Yes it's nice to walk into the post office, or the local store and everyone knows you. Hi Bob, Hi Larry......Hi Leesa...........If you forget your checkbook, it's o.k. pay tomorrow. If your car dies, about 20 different people will pull over to help you.
But, there's not much privacy. Everyone knows I got a new car. Everyone knows George's son died on Friday. Everyone knows I got a new dog. Everyone knows when and where we went on vacation. It freaked us out at first, but we're used to it now. You learn all the secrets and gossip of those around you. And it doesn't take long.
At night all the dogs around bark at each other. It makes me think of 101 Dalmations when the dogs are sending messages to each other all over the world.....Wait a minute............................
Maybe that's how everyone knows our business?!?!? It's my big mouth dogs!!!!

Stumbling Along....
Life is feeling a little better today. I talked to hubs today and he's surviving ok in S. Carolina. He went to the viewing this morning, alone-which is what he wanted. I knew that this would be the hardest part for him. The funeral is in a couple of hours and then he can come home. I felt so terrible last night, not being able to be there for him in this time of such sorrow. But, this is how he wanted to do this. Alot of friends thought this was odd and didn't understand that I didn't go with him, but they don't know our relationship. I hate when someone gives me their opinion on what they think I "should" do. This is our relationship and we understand each other completely. Even if we didn't understand the other's decision, we would respect it, end of story. That's where I came in. It was hard to let him leave here alone, but it's what he wanted and so that's what I wanted. I will be here for him when he comes home.
On the other side of the world, my friend in prison is doing quite well. She found out finally about the denial and handled it very well. She said that maybe there was a reason that she should be there a little longer. I was so proud! I thought for sure she would have fallen apart to know she would be away from her son for another birthday. But, she's o.k. I don't know how ok I would have been. I'm surrounded by such strong people, it's very encouraging.
I'm watching the Terri Schaivo news today. I'm so torn on this subject, I don't know what to think. I feel like in one way, that if Terri's wishes were to not sit in that state for the rest of her life, then I understand her husbands decision. I wouldn't want to live on a tube the rest of my life. BUT, I can also see her parents view, and that I couldn't stand to see my daughter starve to death. She's been off food and water for three days, that's just heartbreaking. Does she know what's going on? Does she feel the hunger?
I think I'll turn off the news now. There's got to be a comedy on somewhere.

Stranger's Kindness
I just want to thank those of you who have sent your thoughts and prayers our way. You don't know how touched I am that love and prayers are coming from friends I don't even know yet. I wasn't sure about this blog thing when I first started it, but I have met so many nice people and made some new friends. I lead a pretty boring life sometimes and reading your blogs bring alot of laughs into my days sometimes. Thank you!

Life Is Short
We have had a tragedy in our family. My husbands oldest son passed away in his sleep on Fri morning. We don't know what happened yet. He was out with friends on St. Patricks Day, drinking alcohol and partying with his friends, he came home went to bed and never woke up. He was 20 years old.
They have done an autopsy with no results. We are waiting for blood tests and toxicology reports.
So shocking. So surreal. Life can take you at any moment. I'm still in shock and speechless.
We've had many friends and family call, but nobody knows what to say. I don't know what to say. It's beyond words I think.
I know I've said this in many of my posts, but take advantage of every day you have. Hug your kids, tell them you love them. Eat dessert. End a long quarrel. Enjoy every day, you never know when it will be taken from you.
Say your prayers for us and anyone who's lost a child. I don't have children myself, but I can see what my husband is going through and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Now, go kiss your husband, wife, mom, dad, children, and tell them how much you love them!!

Chow Time
The deer are here for dinner. It's really funny. People will probably think I'm crazy after reading this, but this story is true:
Everynight about dusk, I get 8-14 deer in my yard. They have gotten so used to me putting out some corn, that they have come to expect it. They actually, I'm not kidding, find me where ever I am in the house and stare me down.
No, I'm not kidding. They know just where in the field to stand that they can see me at my computer. Or on my couch. I try to ignore them sometimes, but they won't go away!! Now, they don't only come at dinner, they are sometimes here at breakfast too. And a few wonder in and out during the day. I mainly feed at dinner, I can't afford to feed them three meals a day! Now I know there are probably people out there that will say that I shouldn't be doing this, because makes them easier for hunters to get too. Well, i've noticed they are only used to me. If my husband or neighbor go out there they all run.
Bear have been seen in the neighborhood, it's just a matter of time before they are here...I will post a picture when that happens.
And NO, I don't feed the bear, what do you think I am, NUTS?

This is my kitten, Critter. I've really gotten into B&W photography, and sometimes adding a hint of color. I have many many cats and two dogs.......you will see them every now and then. If anyone's looking.
It's snowing tonight. I love snow. I love the silence and the smell of snow. I had to trick one of my cats in with a can of chicken, the little sh*t. They are all getting a little too smart. Next time chicken probably won't work.
I think I'm getting a cold....

Unbelievable
I'm watching the Scott Peterson sentencing as I write. I stayed with this trial for the 6 months it was on. I'm still so saddened and amazed at what happened here. All you want to say is "Why?". Why kill your wife and child? Why not divorce? It saddens me that there is someone out there, and many more I'm sure, that thought murder was a better solution. And then the callousness of his actions afterward. While she was missing he got rid of her car. He tried to sell their house, claiming that she wouldn't want to live in it after this "kidnapping" tragedy. He had a girlfriend. He used the baby nursery as storage. I've seen it all million times and I'm still amazed. It's like he has no soul. No heart. Very sad.
Now his life is over. Laci's life is over. Conner's life is over. The Rocha family's life is forever changed and so are the Peterson's even. All because of one very selfish, sick man. I wonder what he's thinking now....Sentenced to death. Did he think he was going to kill Laci and Conner and then renew his life as a playboy? Rich, Single, Cute, girlfriend already waiting for him? So many questions.......
Sharon Rocha spoke for Laci today. It was intense. She guessed the words from Laci's mouth, "Why are you killing me Scott? Why are you killing our son? I love you, you're my best friend."
It gives me a knot in my stomach.
You know what else really irks me? These idiots that get on camera behind the reporter and act stupid. Do they realize what's going on? What's being discussed? People's lives are forever changed today, and these people are calling their friends on their cell phones and saying "look at me , I'm on TV!!". Good Grief. One guy was trying to get his T-shirt on there that had a website on it. Amazing.

Opposites Attract?
My husband and I started our lives completely opposite. It always makes me laugh to think we wound up where we are today. Both from Texas, oh and we are 15 years apart.
He grew up in your basic "Leave it To Beaver" lifestyle. Two parents. Two brothers. Dad was a firefighter, Mom was stay-at-home. He went to church. He went to college. He's now a veterinarian, specialized in Emergency & Critical Care.
I on the other hand, 1 mom, alcholic--no dad to speak of ( until 35 years later). One sister, different dad--not around either. My mom could never keep a job, so we moved constantly. Usually scary neighborhoods. Changed schools so many times, I couldn't even name them all for you now.
I moved out as soon as I could and went to live with my best friend from elementary school and her family. They were Mormon. My sister came soon later. We were both baptized into the church, even though neither one of us even knew what we were doing. Niether of us go to the church now.
I then moved again, to Salt Lake City with my friend. A missionary friend who finished his mission and returned home to Salt Lake, invited us. I got a job as soon as I could. My friend did not. I really wanted to try to make a stable life for myself. It didn't quite work that way. My friend eventually went back home leaving me there. I gave in soon later and went back to TX also.
We tried again a few months later. She had recently discovered her Dad living in Houston. So off we go. Again, I started working right away, rented an apartment within walking distance of work ( no car) she did not. All she really did with her life was date guys and let them buy her nice things and then leave them. Totally opposite of me. Not long after, she left me again. I decided to make it work and stay in Houston. I did ok for awhile. (This story is way too long isn't it?)
Let's just shorten it and say it didn't work out either. I met so many people I thought I trusted who wound up lying to me, cheating on me, using me. I finally was so disgusted with the human race all-together, I once again wound up back in Dallas with the same friend who kept dumping me. (Glutton for punishment?)
I started working for a restaurant called The Magic Pan, met my (ex) future husband, married and moved to MI. He cheated on me. I tried to survive in MI by myself. I had a car this time at least. I had to work two jobs and give away my pets to survive. It was very heartbreaking. I worked 2-3 jobs for at least 3 years. I worked my ASS off. Oh and the divorce forced me into bankruptcy because I had no idea what my husband did with the money, the bills, the finances. (Take heed young ladies). I lost my car and had to get a piece of crap that kept dying on me and didn't like cold weather.
****This isn't getting any shorter is it?*****
I wound up back in TX again. That's where I finally settled for the time being. I was working for an emergency animal hospital ( Did I mention that was my main job for the last 8 years?). I met my husband here. We worked alot of surgeries together and talked alot. ALOT. I think he was fasinated that I had survived all of this stuff and I was not a drug addict, alcoholic or insane.
We were total opposites. A doctor. Well established. Very smart. Good credit. Family. Children. Divorced.
Me? Where do I start? Two jobs, small apartment, three cats, bankrupt, POS car. And I didn't even go into where my Mom and sister were. My mother was useless all those years and still is. Way too long story to get into with my sister. I'll write about my Dad in another post one day.
Okay Okay I'm winding it up. We are married now, live in the beautiful Montana. We are best friends, roomates, confidants. We can talk for hours. We don't like the same kind of music. We both love good food, but he's the cook. I have way too many animals, but he's o.k. with that, sometimes. Life is great and we are both very happy. Who'da thought? We didn't.

Life, Montana Style
Well, today was pretty uneventful. I still can't get my mind off my friend in prison. It's amazing, but everything I do now, she can't. I'm having a beer and watching Sex and The City. My husband is with a friend hiking up 5 miles to a forest look-out tower. The deer are in my yard right now eating corn. She can't experience any of this. It makes me sad. I don't mean to dwell, just be aware. I think it's a good thing to be aware. It also makes me appreciative. I already went into all of this in my last post, so I won't say anymore about it.
We're having a wild day here in Montana. All day the weather has been very confused. It started out very sunny and blue skies, to a very cold cloudover and snow flakes, and then it all repeated itself. Right now, 6:30pm, it is blue, sun is setting, but there are some scary looking clouds just hanging around in the background. My husband just made it to his destination, took him about 6 hours. He is going to camp out for the night. I can just imagine the beauty he sees from there.
We moved to Montana from Texas. We've been here almost three years. It still amazes me to walk outside and see a sky full of stars, trees, mountains, creeks, wildlife. No buildings, no pollution. The air here is so crisp and fresh. Not a neighbor in sight. It's wonderful!
I was a city gal, grew up in Dallas. I thought at first I would miss the malls and pizza delivery and more than anything Chinese Delivery!!! But I really do love this small town and peaceful living. We started growing our vegetables and even growing herbs, some for food, some for medicinals. We have switched to all organically made cleaning products. It really is awesome. At night, the sky looks like someone spilled glitter all over it. Amazing.
We had a very mild winter this year, so spring is trying to come sooner. Alot of the spring birds are coming back now, expecting hummingbirds soon! The strawberry plants are starting to pop up, along with garlic and onions. We still get to freezing at night, 50's during the day. Bear should be waking up anytime now I suspect.
Our first year here, we had bear right on our porch, looking in our windows...it was a wild experience to say the least!! They love bird seed and will come back about the same time everynight to find it.
We finally built a birdfeeder that the bear can't break! You can see pictures of this at www.Wildvizionz.com, my photo website.
Ok, well, time to feed the dogs, horses and deer and then my own dinner!

Again, Today
I view the world through my camera. It's amazing how differently your view is when you carry one. I've had a few photo's chosen for publication, which is very exciting!! I live in Montana, it's so beautiful. My husband travels with work, so I have alot of spare time. This is why I decided to create this blog. A way to release built up thoughts and energy. I have most energy at night, so that's usually when I'll post. I'm working on figuring out how to get my photo's on here. Could take awhile........................
First Rambling
Not sure what to say today. Life is good. I'm basically happy with everything, minus a few disruptions. Winter is gone, spring is slowly peeking. Spring birds are here, bear should be arriving anytime. Photography is my way to share with everyone the beauty I get to see everyday.
