Communication

Each of us has developed an internal filtering process that helps us choose which parts of our constant inner monologues get voiced outside of our heads.
Sometimes the choice is based on what we consider to be polite or appropriate, using subtlety instead of directness to try to get our point across. Other times the choice is made based on our expectations of the other person and what we feel they should know about us, our feelings, and our needs. But our best chance of getting what we need is to communicate specifically by converting our inner voice to our outside voice.

This may seem unnecessary sometimes, especially when we think the other person has the same information we ourselves are working with, but we have to remember they also have their own inner voice, evaluating what they hear in light of their own issues and needs.
With so much to consider and sift through, we are truly better off if we communicate precisely. Not only does doing this minimize the chance for misinterpretation, but voicing our thoughts it is an act of creation. We convert thought and imagination to sound, releasing it from the chamber of our minds into the outside world. This carries energy and intention with it, making our thoughts, wishes, and even dreams come true.

When we have the courage to speak our minds and use our voice to send the desires of our hearts from our inner world to the world outside, we take a bold step in making them happen. By removing fear of what others may think and expectation of what others should understand, we free ourselves and our thoughts from the bondage of the mental chamber and let loose our desires onto the canvas of the world.
Next time we become aware that we have a choice about how to communicate, we can choose to use our outside voice and watch its creative power at work.

What do you think?

Traveling Butterfly

It's almost time.

I spent my Saturday cleaning my house and preparing it for the housesitter. I was on a roll and actually did a lot more than I planned. I even cleaned windows. Yeah, that's big :)

I'm mostly packed except for the items that go in last. It's always so hard to pack for trips. Which clothes, which shoes? How cold will it be? Will you need something nice?
I sure hope not. My suitcase is full of casual-comfy. But then, that's me.
All the essentials are packed, i.e. cameras, cords, chargers. You name it. My camera bag will definitely be heavy.

I will still be online, and keep you updated on what's going on.

I already have butterflies and I haven't even left my house yet :)

Stubborn

Blogger made me switch today.
I hate being told what to do :P

Lessons Learned

I learned two things today...

Vinegar will freeze on the windows when it's 19 degrees if you don't wipe it off soon enough.

&

Vinegar hurts when it gets in your eyes.

Oh and the cats are VERY helpful when making the beds.

Blonde Moment

I can't blame Leesa's Law this time. Or can I?
I did it to myself. Tonight I was cleaning a few things up, picking things up off the floor, etc.
I have this small nightlight that was a gift, this little wildlife like thing. It's been unplugged since I had the Christmas tree. Tonight I decided to plug it back in.

The small bulb in it exploded, which in turn killed the power in half the house. Of course it was the half I was using. It killed the TV, the power to the laptop, the lamps and the outside lights. Oh yay.

I went downstairs and checked the breaker box, everything said ON. I walked around to all the plugs looking for that little red button (yes, I know, I sound like a girl right now) none on the part of the house where the power was out.
I grabbed the flashlight and checked the outside plugs. Nope.
Checked the breaker box in the garage. Nope.
Which then I remembered that the power to the house can be cut off from that breaker box in the garage. OH, that's comforting to know.

Anyway..no such luck.
I decided to go back to the breaker box downstairs and just turn a few breakers on and off.
Guess what?
The one that says Living Room did the trick.

Geez, I'm a dork. I can deal with bears knocking on my door, but can't figure out a breaker box.

We'll just keep this between us :)

As I'm making my list for my trip, I had to laugh at all the "little" accessories that go with the "big" accessories we "need". It's really kinda crazy when you think about it.

So.. here's my 13 needs for my trip :)

1. My cameras, of course.
2. The chargers, for my cameras.
3. Lenses and cleaners, for my cameras.
4. My cell phone.
5. The charger, for my cellphone.
6. The case, for my cellphone.
7. The earpiece, for my cellphone.
8. The laptop.
9. The charging cord, for my laptop.
10. Card reader, for the cameras and laptop.
11. My Ipod.
12. The charger, case, and earphones, for the Ipod.
13. Oh and then you know... clothes, shoes, toiletries, wallet, tickets, etc etc.. those kinds of things :)

Ok, you can go back to what you were doing.

Sharp

I had this dream last night. I guess if you could call it a dream. Even though some don't believe in this stuff, it's wild sometimes to look up what it might mean. Scarily enough, a lot of if fits.

I was walking down this long hall with this guy. Along this hall on both sides were open doors, like a hotel hallway. As we were walking down this hall, a gang of kids came upon us and were throwing sharp items at the guy I was with. I kept getting in front and protecting him from being hit. These sharp things were those sharp stars you see in movies sometimes.

At the end of the hall was this tall kid with knives in his hands. I again, stood in front of this guy and protected him.

Then I woke up. Nice, eh?

Protection
To dream that you are protecting someone, suggests that you are putting up an emotional wall or barrier between you and others around you. Consider who or what you are protecting for clues as to what aspect of your own self you are afraid of letting out and letting others know.

Hallways
To see a hallway in your dream, symbolizes the beginning of a path that you are taking in life or a journey into the unknown and self exploration. It represents spiritual, emotional, physical, or mental passages in your life.? It is indicative of a transitional phase in your life.

Doors
To dream that you are entering through a door, signifies new opportunities that will be presented before you. You are entering into a new stage in your life and moving from one level of consciousness to another. In particular, a door that opens to the outside, signifies your need to be more accessible to others, whereas a door that opens into the inside, denotes your desire for inner exploration and self-discovery.

Gang
To dream that you are confronted or threatened by a gang, signifies circumstances or situations in your waking life which are overwhelming and you feel has ganged up on you

Some of it is accurate. I am making changes. I know I would protect this person I was with in this way, definitely.
I wasn't scared in the dream either. I was very calm. I even woke calm from it.

Just weird.

My Planet

Pretty cool effect, eh? I have found a new toy and still trying to perfect it.
You can see the way it's done here. And the Flickr group is just amazing.. you can see it here.

What's going on in my planet? I don't think it's ever going to stop snowing. And to think I was wishing for snow months ago :)
I've been wanting to go into the big city, but with the ice and now the extra snow on top of it, I have wimped out.

I have six days.. yes I'm counting down... until I head out. Of course I'm not that prepared. I just realized yesterday that I don't have a suitcase. My sis took mine back to TX with her.
I realized also that my new laptop won't fit in the bag I usually carry the laptop in. With the new 17" screen.. ain't happenin.

I of course have to get my house ready for a petsitter, and create of list of who's who and who gets in the most trouble. Won't that be a fun list?
I bet you can't guess who's at the top of the trouble list. He's playing in the blinds right now and about to get clobbered.

So.. I guess I need a list.
And Caffeine.

Mundane Monday

Blah. That's my word of the day. Blah.
My tummy has been yucky the last few days. It's not anything serious, it just doesn't want to eat. It has said No to basically everything. I'm assuming it's some bug that my hubs carried in from LA. Thanks, hon :)

I've been trying to get bird photos the last couple of days and I've just had no luck. The big tree is right in front of the covered porch so it's dark.
The skies are grey and snowy, so it's dark.
If I step out into the yard to get these photos, the birds won't land in the tree or feeders. So pffft.

I head out of town in a week. Very excited about this.
I will eat out, I will take photos, I might even get lost :)
Actually I ordered a Garmin GPS for the car. I just plug it into the lighter and type in where I want to go and it will tell me.
Hopefully I will figure this out. If not, there's always my cell phone (which will actually work!) and I can just call for help.
I'm really really trying not to be nervous about all the traveling, and doing part of it alone. The excitement about going is about even with the nervousness, so it's ok :)

Oh and I'm going to a 4yr old boys birthday party, which I'm actually kind of excited about. I don't remember the last time I went to a childs birthday, with a CARS theme by the way, but I will have camera in hand, I think it will be fun.
OH and of COURSE the Superbowl on the 4th. Can't miss that ;)

I will of course have my phone and my laptop, so I'll keep up here.
I'll definitely have more to blog about than I do right now. Posted by Picasa

Heat Wave

Who would've thought you'd be happy to see 20 degrees? Well I am. It was so nice to get out this morning and it be over the single digits. I think it's supposed to keep getting warmer (30's heh), so me happy :)

I've been going through my photo archives and see so many photos I never posted, so I think I will slowly post them as I go. When I take some of my photos, I take many. So when I post one for you, I usually have about 10 more I really like :) Lucky you :)

I've decided to cut back on Diet Coke. I'm pretty sure I can't go cold turkey, but I definitely will try to cut down. So if I ever sound cranky, you'll know why.
After reading Binsks post on Aspartame, I started wondering with all the Coke I drink, if this might be part of my problem. Of course I curse her for taking away my one and only vice ;)

So.. any advice on how to get my caffeine?
Switch to coffee?
All chocolate diet? (that would be just horrible :PPosted by Picasa

Behind The Laptop

This is my 365 photo for today. It was a last minute idea and I only took two shots. This was the good one.
This is where you'll find me most nights, sitting in bed with the laptop in my lap.

What's funny was as I looked at it, I thought the eyes looked a little creepy. Almost crazy.
Which leads to why I'm writing this post. I've had a couple of people joke about me and cabin fever.
Add in this photo and maybe I'm scaring a few people :)

I can promise you I'm not going crazy and putting clothes on the cats just yet.

Yet.... ;)
