Echo

Quiet night.
I have to admit,
tonight I'm nervous.
Uneasy.
The winds picked up tonight. The smoke is intense.
It's in the house. Burning eyes and throat.

I do know that it's not any closer.
I do know that if there were any danger close I would have heard something.
But it's dark, eerily quiet, and smokey.
I don't know why it's bothering me tonight of all nights, but it is.

I actually feel alone tonight too. I'm alone most of the time.
This is nothing new.
I'm a good loner. I like it.
But tonight is different.
I can't explain it.

Not the perfect clarity I would like, but believe it or not.. it's smokey out :)

Disappointment

Do you remember this Post?

Well, scary enough, They are moving to Montana.

More on this story over at David's.

This kind of behavior makes me sad. The fact that their can still be such hate in the world, AND it's instilled into our youth.

Simple Pleasures

You know what this is? It's the packet my vitamins were in. I take them daily.
And daily, Trout hears me open this and then proceeds to take off with the empty packet.
He actually sits and waits for me to finish emptying it.

Then, for at least the next hour, he has a blast. He pushes it around the house.
He throws it in the air. He carries it to each room. He pushes it down the stairs and then brings it back up. He loves it. Then.... he loses it.

And the he waits until the next morning.

Can you imagine such simple pleasure? To be so happy and pleased over something so simple.
And then when it's gone it's like he knows his happiness will be back. He just goes along and finds something else to play with. Or, takes a nap.

and satisfaction who have never pursued and successfully caught his tail"

Speaks to Me

Receiving With Grace
Accepting Compliments

Many of us find it difficult to accept compliments but easy to believe the slightest criticism. Today, right now, let's make a choice to fully accept compliments as we would a gift. Sincere compliments are gifts of praise. They are kudos given for wise choices or accomplishments or perhaps for just letting your light shine. There is no reason not to accept the gift of a kind word, but some of us argue against them, even giving reasons why they aren't true.

If we visualize the energy of a compliment, we would see beautiful, shining, positive energy being sent from the giver. That energy, if accepted graciously, would brighten our personal energy field. Our gratitude then returns to the giver as warm, fuzzy, glowing energy, completing an even circuit of good feelings. But if we reject a compliment, what could have been a beautiful exchange becomes awkward and uncomfortable, making it a negative experience instead. Misplaced modesty can ruin the joy of sharing this connection with another person. But we can accept a compliment and still be modest by simply saying "thank you."
However, if compliments are rejected due to a lack of self-esteem, then the first step would be to start believing good things about yourself. Beyond the initial feelings of silliness, you will notice how good it feels and can watch the smile it puts on your face. The next step would be to see how it feels to give compliments to others. Notice how great you feel when you've made another person's face brighten and how differently you feel when the gift you've offered is rejected. Having experienced all sides, you will be ready to play along fully and willingly.

We are our harshest critics. When we accept compliments, we are reminded that others see us through different eyes. All living beings crave positive attention, and we all deserve to have positive energy shared with us. Perhaps if we happily and gratefully accept compliments, we will give others permission to do so as well.

Smoke Out

Pretty thick this morning. Actually burns the eyes.
When you go outside, you'd think there was a campfire in your yard.
Heh...I guess there is.

I sat outside last night and watched about 16 doe/bucks/fawns run around the front yard. I took many photos (of course) I think you'll enjoy.
We also watched two beaver swim in the pond. They look like they're up to something.

This morning is cool, but smokey. You can hear so many sounds outside. You grab your coffee (or coke, in my case) and sit and enjoy the sounds. The birds, the deer, the frogs.... the helicopters. Yeah, there's a sound you don't hear that often. You rarely hear planes or cars.
Or, your neighbors music. Or, your neighbors dogs. It's peaceful. It's nice :)

Tonight is a Full Moon, the closest this year. It was beautiful last night, so I'm excited to see how it looks tonight. And yes, I'll share :)

Don't forget to go look now... ya hear?

Round Trip

Osbasso had a theme today.
Take photos on your way to work or back. I don't drive to work. I actually rarely drive anywhere.
So..I give you some photos around the property and the area. Obviously these weren't taken yesterday, but the scene rarely changes :) It's been so smokey lately, these pics wouldn't have looked as good, so I went through my archives. (*as always, click em to big em*)

Elk Creek Bay...just down the road.

The house with a rainbow over it :)

Back of the house, view from the creek.

Well this is all Blogger will let me post today. I've tried since this morning to add two more shots but it's just not happening. Add on that AOL has kicked me offline several times, AND...it took me four tries just to post this now... I give up :P

It's been REAL fun.....Hope ya'll like :)

Well, I Tried

Osbasso had a theme post today. Photos of your drive to or from work, or your surrounding area. I've been trying most of my morning and blogger just isn't cooperating. So I give up. The post is saved and if Blogger is behaving later, I'll try again.

Some have asked/emailed me about the fire. The big fire that you are seeing on the news in Montana lately is in the Billings area, I think. It's a very large fire, something like 180,000 acres. This isn't anywhere near me. The fire that's affecting us is actually in Idaho, as we sit about 4 miles from the Idaho/Montana border.

This is the site I check daily for updates. It looks like they are really just waiting for rain to take care of this. We are on Red Flag alert because of the low humidity and warm temps today. So far it's just extremely smokey here today.

I'll keep you updated :)

**Update--Here's the other fire. :(

Wanted

I really really really really really want This.

No, really, I do.

Airhead...I gotcha

So much for getting away from the computer, eh?
It's awfully smokey here today. They have decided to just let the fire burn out... is that good or bad?
So..I can't do much of anything outside. Are ya'll still praying for rain?

We took Tuna's cast off today, but she is very crabby AGAIN. She has some small sores on her foot and I think they hurt :(

She will get medicine now.

Your Element Is Air

You dislike conflict, and you've been able to rise above the angst of the world.
And when things don't go your way, you know they'll blow over quickly.

Easygoing, you tend to find joy from the simple things in life.
You roll with the punches, and as a result, your life is light and cheerful.

You find it easy to adapt to most situations, and you're an open person.
With you, what you see is what you get... and people love that!

Healing

Definitely some kind of scrape. But, appears to be healing :)

On Notice

Found at Shephard's :)

Are there people or groups who are working your last nerve? Have you ever wanted to officially put them on notice for irritating and annoying you, for making your life more difficult? Well now you can!

Updates

Still not the best lighting, they seem to be showing up at dawn and dusk, but it does seem her leg is scraped. She's walking on it fine, just hope it doesn't get infected. I couldn't get her to walk out in the sun for a better pic, little stinker.

Oh..and fire update :

Burnouts continue on north side of fire in Shoshone RNA, to increase the width of the blackline. Heavy equipment continues to brush out and improve road on N side of fire. Handcrews continue to mop up on NE edge of fire along containment line and work hotpots along with engines and helicopters. Feller buncher continued to brush out Gem Peak road to the lookout to improve access. Longterm Management Plan was established for this fire. This plan presents a strategy of containing fire spread in directions of most concern and realizing that a fire ending weather event will be required to reach containment.

Let's pray for rain!

Thinkin' Again

Yes I'm using this pic again, because it fits this post :)

So..I've been on the treadclimber a few times this week. I usually find a good 30 minute sitcom on TV and I'm all set. I have to keep my brain entertained or I get bored.
But today..as I was going to get on, there was nothing good on TV. I could grab the Ipod, even though that just won't be the same.

So I was thinkin...

Maybe I could attach the laptop to the Treadclimber?? I can easily blow 30 minutes on that. Find someone to talk to.. or first thing in the morning reading blogs. Heck I might even go longer! It's got wireless so I don't need any cords. I can type and walk..I think. So..how to figure that out...

Duct Tape?

Helpless

Doesn't this suck??

I hate when I see things like this and I can't do anything about it. And what sucks more, is I could do something about it if I could actually touch the animal. She seemed to be running around fine on it last night. It was almost dark that's why the quality of the photos ain't too great.

I'm hoping it's just a cut that bled alot. It's hard to tell by the photo. Almost looks like a huge scrape? They come back everyday, so I hope to see her today. And pray it's not worse :(

*Oh..click it to big it ;)

Circles

THEN

NOW

Okay this wasn't meant to be part of the THEN&NOW series, but I thought it was funny :)
I've been playing with circles again, can ya tell?

Anyway....not much really to tell around here. We're still having cooler weather. I've had to bring an extra blanket in at night.
The fire is still bigger but being kept away from us.
No, I haven't seen the lynx.
I watched Iron Chef last night and have been craving pork and potatoes all night. Two things I RARELY crave or eat.

I took the Ipod and the cameras out to the pond yesterday. What did I see?
A duck. A cat. A turtle. Some fish. Some birds. Yeah, not much photography done yesterday. Since we're the only ones right around here with a pond, it is sometimes the drinking hole for the bigger animals. I've been waiting almost 4 years for a moose to come along.

Photo Friday theme today is Silver. Yeah, I got nuthin.
I guess it's a holiday weekend for some of ya.
Have a great weekend :)

Oh and I've created a Circle of Me.
Kinda creepy isn't it?
