Scavenger Hunt : Time

I had to think for a while on the subject of "Time".
I came up with this.
"Time" stands still here. This is a small town. We don't have fast food, or banks, or convenience stores. You rarely see a new car, or hear loud music.
We are not fast paced. You can't see a movie or go to a bar or club.
People take walks here, ride horses and watch the moonrise.

Time is still. Paused. Slow. You learn to appreciate the nature around you. You hear the sounds you wouldn't normally hear. You see the stars you wouldn't normally notice. You have time to think. Time to stop and listen. Did you know you can actually hear snow hit the ground? You can.

Of course there's a different view to this. Time moves so slow you miss things. You sometimes miss fast food and movie theatres. You miss food delivery and the convenience of one stop shopping.

It's all relevent. It's how you use it. It's how you appreciate it.

It's all about Time.

Today

This morning :)
I'd say we got a foot and it's still coming down. I did lose power right after the last post and it came back on about an hour ago. Anyone in the mood to shovel?

Buried

The snow is here and it showed up in full force. At least 6 inches so far and it's still piling up. I thought I'd get a post in now since who knows if I'll have power for much longer.

Thanksgiving was quiet, but nice. Snowed all day, but much lighter than it is now. Some neighbors brought me a plate of good ol' Thanksgiving fixins :)
I watched the parade this morning, and then watched the Cowboys kick butt this afternoon.

It was a good day, and now I'm watching the snowfall.

We'll see what happens when I wake up :)

A Life? What's that?

Leave A Message

I went to sleep early last night.
Well, early for me anyway. I was sleeping well. I was even dreaming I think.

Then, around 6am, the phone rings.
As a lot of you know, I rarely answer my phone. If I don't know exactly who it is, (thank you, caller i.d.) I don't answer it.
If it says "unavailable", "blocked caller", "private caller" or "unknown caller".. they're on their own.
I especially love the one that says "telemarketer". Oh yeah.. let me run and trip over a few cats to get that one.

I will, however, usually answer local calls since they are usually looking for the vet. I hate to leave them hanging, especially if it's an odd hour. I see if I can help, or send them on their way.
This morning, I sent them on their way.

I have been fooled before by a local "wireless caller". Turns out, telemarketers can now get away with this. I really love when their message makes it sounds like they are old friends just wanting us to call them back. Have you gotten these?

Oh well, that's what voicemail is for right?

I didn't get back to sleep.

Just Ask

Asking For What You Want
Cocreating With The Universe

Most people don't always fully realize that we all have within us the ability to cocreate our lives with the universe. So many of us are taught to accept what we are given and not even to dream of anything more. But our hopes and dreams are the universe whispering to us, planting an idea of what's possible while directing us toward the best use of our gifts. The universe truly wants to give us our hearts' desires, but we need to be clear about what they are and ask for them.

To ask for something does not mean to beg or plead from a place of lack or unworthiness. It's like placing an order-we don't need to beg the salesperson for what we want or prove to them that we deserve to have it. It is their job to give us what we ask for; we only have to tell them what we want. Once we have a clear vision of what we desire, we simply step into the silent realm where all possibilities exist and let our desires be known. Whatever methods we use to become still, it is important that we find the quiet space between our thoughts.

From that still and quiet place, we can announce our intentions to the pure energy of creation. By imagining all the details from every angle, including scent, color, and how it would feel to have it, we design our dreams to our specifications. Similar to dropping a pebble into a pond, the ripples created by our thoughts travel quickly from this place of stillness, echoing out into the world to align and orchestrate all the necessary details to bring our desires into manifestation. Before leaving this wonderful space to come back to the world, release any attachment to the outcome and express gratitude. By doing this daily, we focus our thoughts and our energy while regularly mingling with the essence that makes it possible to build the life of our dreams.

Wildlife

Not much new happening around here.

I had a neighbor call last night to let me know there's a mountain lion hanging out, and had attacked a neighbors dog.
The dog's in the hospital, tail ripped right off. I guess he's going to be ok though.

From what I've heard, they become territorial but do so in a 12 day rotation. Brock and Taylor have both been escaping from the yard lately, so I've had to secure them to the yard.

We're expecting snow the next couple of days.
Thanksgiving will be quiet around here. I haven't decided whether I should head to town and buy real food for Thursday, or just treat it like any other day.
I remember back in my single days, when I would spend the holidays alone, I would buy a chicken and some special side dish and watch holiday specials. Sharing some of the chicken with my cat. (CAT..one cat). I'm not sure that would be a good idea now :)

I had evidence last night that made me think bear, but I really think they've retired for the season. Maybe raccoons are just getting a little more adventurous. I did get to walk along the driveway and pick up trash though. Always a fun thing to do first thing in the morning.

Maybe I should get one of those shoulder bags and a poker stick :)

Saturday Ramble

I've got nothin for the Scavenger Hunt. Plush? Newp. Nothing.

I had the worlds longest spam in my previous post, AND they got past word verification. I'm just so excited about that.

I have tried tuna with the cat outside. I'm sure that's why I caught all the other cats. I guess Wolf is just wise to me. Ok.. that's fine. Be wise in 25 degree temps. I can only do so much.

I can't believe that MSNBC news this morning has "Breaking News" on the TomKat wedding. What?? This is breaking news? Who cares?

I'm drinking my last diet coke right now. This is not good. I guess I'm going to have to get out to the store. Out in public. What will I wear?? :P

I watched the wildest movie last night (this morning, actually). It was called Very Bad Things on the Independent Film Channel. It says it's a comedy, and I guess I can see how they can call it that. A black comedy anyway. But it was quite twisted.
I truly only saw the comedy at the end when everyone kind of got what they deserved.

It looks like it might be sunny today... despite all the frost.
Maybe I can get out with my camera :)

Worry Wolf

This is Wolf. Wolf has been causing me great stress the last month or so. Wolf is part of the same litter as Moose & Grizzly and two others. Did I tell ya the story how I got the litter of kittens? Eh.. It would take too long now. Lets just say I wound up with a pregnant cat, in the middle of winter, and I kept the litter. Come to find out, the cat belonged to someone. So... she went home, sans kittens.
She was a mean cat, so she rarely let me near the kittens. Sooo, these cats are a bit skittish.

Moose and Grizzly aren't as skittish and usually sleep with me. Wolf slept with me also, but he had his moments. About a month ago, he found a hole in the cat pen and got out. I have not been able to catch him since. I've felt bad for him because he's always been indoors and now he's dealing with outdoors 24 hours a day, and it's freezing. BUT... the goofy cat won't let me catch him. Ugh. (Remember the Spook story?)

So anyway... I've been setting up the cat trap (humane, of course) for him during the day, trying to catch him.
Of course you know how this works out. I've caught EVERY one of my other cats. He avoids it. How is that? Do you know how frustrating that is? If you don't know the Spook story, It went the same way. I watched Spook enter and exit the trap many times never setting it off. I seriously thought I was going to cry. But that's another post.
He will come close, and even talk to me.... but no way is he within arms reach.

I can't leave the trap at night for a couple of reasons. I don't want to catch a raccoon, and I can't leave the cat just sitting there overnight.

What's extremely frustrating to me though is the fact that this cat won't come to me. I've raised it since a kitten. I've fed and provided a pretty awesome home, and, he runs from me! Ugh.
So... the cat lives outside now. Isn't that crazy? It drives me nuts.

A cat that won't come to me. Can you imagine?

Ok...rant over.

Check It Out

Hey.. I'm on the B list :)

Get In Line

This is just insane.

Seriously.

And I'm not just talking about the shootings.

Where's Mr. Sandman?

Can ya guess what this circle art was a photo of?

So I actually fell asleep before 4am last night. Or.. this morning, I guess. I guess the last few nights had caught up with me and I was asleep before 1am. I even missed my X-Files marathon :(
Of course you know that didn't last. Logging truck woke me at 5:30am. We're clearing some land and they were hear bright and early to pick up trees. Heh. Same amount of sleep, just shifted a bit. Scary enough, I think my body is getting used to 4-5 hours of sleep now.

The Photo Friday theme today was Evil. I can't even think of a photo I would have that said "Evil". Any ideas?

I've really got nuthin else this morning. It's 26 degrees, everything is covered in a sparkly frost, and I'm hungry.

4. Raccoons outside into some kind of mischief.
5. The dogs wake and bark.
6. Sinclair and Trout are wrestling in the kitchen.

Holiday Spirit

Isn't this great? This is the zoo in Seattle. I miss things like this.
I miss going to zoo's, or amusement parks, or big neighborhoods all decorated for Christmas. As I've mentioned before, I wasn't as into photography when I lived around stuff like this, and now that I am.. I don't.
I'm seriously considering going to see this show.

You won't see much in decorations around this town. I did decorate the first year, but no one really sees it. I didn't decorate last year, I didn't even get a tree. I'm sure you can understand me not having a tree with the zoo I have running around. But, we will this year. We have family coming up for Christmas, including my sis and nephew so it will be a full house.
I can just imagine what Trout and Sinclair will do to a Christmas tree, but just more photo and blog entries, right?

It's also hard to decorate the outside of the house here unless you think to do it in September. By the time you think of doing it, it's freezing out and not much fun. I'm usually on my own too, since hubs doesn't like the idea of hanging lights in freezing weather. And.. he doesn't like ladders.

I do love getting the tree though. There's a tree farm in the area and you go pick out any size for $15 and cut it yourself. We had a huge tree the first year, I think it was at least 7 feet tall. We'll have to go early this year to get one that size. Then of course, you leave it undecorated for awhile so little kittens can get used to it, and then you can't decorate it from 3ft down.
And.. you can't have a tree skirt because they think it's a bed.
And..they drink the water out of the tree stand.
And..they try to climb it.
And..the pine needles stick to their tails and they carry them all.over.the.house.
And.. they eat the bows off the presents.
And.. you will always find little tooth marks in the packages.
And of course... you will have some broken or missing ornaments.

Ahh... Christmas. Can't wait :)

Nature Laughs

So..my day. I woke up to trash cans blowing across the porch and windchimes going crazy.

We had quite the wind and ice-like rain. It was lovely :)

I got everyone fed and watered and released and turned on the laptop for the usual blog run. That's when I lost power. What was weird though, was I still had internet for about a 1/2 hour or so. My laptop was running on battery and I still had internet. No complaints.. but weird.

I started working on Medicine Monday, or finishing anyway. It was a good one (Salmon) and I had so much to say and just spewed it all out. It was perfect for me right now. Then.... internet went away. I think now it was a sign that I didn't need to post all of that. Whew. I might post part of it anyway, just for the meaning.. but that's it.

Brock broke out of the yard and went to visit the neighbors. They brought him home. But.. they let him loose out of the truck, so there was no catching him. He went back.
I decided since I had no power, I would run some errands and go to the post office. I ran into the neighbors on the way, who had Brock in their truck, so picked him up too. He was SO dirty and stinky and I had to put him in the nice truck. Sigh.

The Post Office and the town store had no power, so I didn't get much done. The post office did take my packages anyway.

So...I get home, no power. The barn is still flooded so I can't get to the horses. The smoke detectors are all beeping at me since the power is out. I removed all their batteries.
I got to bring in wood while it was raining, that was fun.
I couldn't find my landline phone, so I didn't even have phone access.

It's funny when you don't have power, you forget what you can't use. I was going to clean the floors, but my floor steamer has to be plugged in. I forget that I lose water without power.
I forget and enter rooms and turn on the lights.
I forget I can't throw something in the microwave. Hubs took my satellite radio in the truck, so I didn't have that.
It's awfully quiet here with no power.

So anyway.. the rain is still falling and turning into snow.
I have power. Brock is tied to the deck and the horses braved the water to come out and eat. My floors are clean and I microwaved my dinner.

Life is good :)

The Grizzly
