No power most of the morning. Bad weather and high winds are not my friend today.

Sunday Mutter

I say... and you think?

  1. Nick :: At Night

  2. Focus :: Lens

  3. Police :: Blues

  4. Miles :: Flight

  5. Earn :: Respect

  6. Twice :: Shy

  7. Razor :: Sharp

  8. Personality :: Clash

  9. Dumped :: Trash

  10. Reliable :: Safe

I'm starting to get bored with this Sunday Mutter meme.. this might be the last one you see. Eh..who knows.
The weekend so far has been pretty uneventful, which I'm not complaining about. It has snowed on and off most of the day, but still not much sticking.
My hubs today decided to watch the three Star Wars movies. The last time I saw Star Wars was when it first came out. I haven't seen it since, and I haven't seen the other two. Not bad movies :) Trout liked to sit in front of the TV and watch the ships flying around.

What was funny to me though, was that I remember having the toys. I had the action figures, the little planes, the weird animal-like toys. I remember playing with them, but don't remember anything about the movie. So.. I got to sit through those, plus, Saving Private Ryan. Can you tell it was guy-movie day?

I plan on being a Sunday bum. I need to watch the third Lord of The Rings and Princess Bride. I shall lay on the couch with a blankie, maybe a little cappucino, the laptop (of course) and a few cats for warmth.

And that's all I need.
The blankie, the laptop, the drink and the cats. That's all.
Oh and the remote.
The blankie, laptop, drink, cats and remote. That's all I need.
Oh and the phone.
The blankie, laptop, drink, cats, remote and phone. That's all I need.
Oh and lotion and lip balm.
The blankie, laptop, drink, cats, remote, phone, lotion and lip balm.

I don't need anything else.
That's all I need :)

Cats Eye

Astronomy Picture of The Day

Three thousand light-years away, a dying star throws off shells of glowing gas. This image from the Hubble Space Telescope reveals the Cat's Eye Nebula to be one of the most complex planetary nebulae known. In fact, the features seen in the Cat's Eye are so complex that astronomers suspect the bright central object may actually be a binary star system. The term planetary nebula, used to describe this general class of objects, is misleading. Although these objects may appear round and planet-like in small telescopes, high resolution images reveal them to be stars surrounded by cocoons of gas blown off in the late stages of stellar evolution.

In The Globe

You know I had to try it at night too.... right?

Thursday Theme : Orange

Peek Inside

Well it's snowy and icky outside, so obviously I'm playing with the fisheye lens inside.
Here you can see the views of my living room.

Ignore any messes :P

How many cats can you see?

Hmm..maybe I should have cleaned first.

Thirteen Reasons I don't Have a Thursday Thirteen

1. I can't think of thirteen interesting things.
2. I have feathers all over my house.
3. I soaked my Uggs in the barn and I'm traumatized.
4. Two trees fell over the pond.
5. I burned my arm and it hurts :(
6. My Fisheye lens is here, I must play :)
7. I have two wet, stinky, dirty dogs that need bathing.
8. The X-Files marathon is on and I can't.look.away.
9. I cleaned out my closet.
10. Now everything that was in my closet is now in my bedroom.
11. I have to find a place to put it now.
12. I have to haul in firewood. Wet firewood.
13. Critter got his head stuck in the handle part of a plastic bag, which resulted in him running all over the house, running into the glass door, knocking over several candles, one water bowl and my diet coke.

And now I'm tired.

I'm Speechless

Drive

So I took a drive today to check out the flooding everyone's talking about. It is flooded, but it's just high fast moving water... didn't do much for me photo-wise. But.. here's a few shots I got on my way back.

See the brown oreo-cow? She's the ONLY one in that herd. She's special :)

It stopped raining for a while, but the water still sits and two trees fell over in the pond. Fun.

Draggin'

I feel like this today.

I finally fell asleep around 4:30am, just to be awoken by Sinclair at 8:00am. Seems she's decided that talking in my ear is an acceptable alarm clock. How do you get mad at something so cute?

The rains have not stopped and the winds have been crazy. It was actually warm enough (50's) to open the windows and listen to the wind and rains. I like that :)
I love to hear the rain hit the roof. You can't hear it inside though, so as I sit here the windows are open. A little chilly, but that's what comfy flannels and blankets are for right? Ya gotta love big ol' flannel pj's and sleeping cats everywhere. And yes, I still have feathers everywhere. And no.. I don't care :)

I ordered a fisheye lens today. I truly can't wait for this to get here. You might get bombarded by new photos next week. I had the hubs leave me the BIG truck this two weeks so I could go on a photo safari, but it has rained everyday :( I rarely get this truck...and of course I don't even get to enjoy it.

I found out the next big veterinary conference is in Maui in April. Yes, I think I need to go there. Don't you?
Yes, I knew you'd agree.

Ellen... Pam? Available in April?? :P

I couldn't really find what I wanted for "Window" so I'm using this 'Yawn' shot of Trout in the 'Window'. :)
The window is a favorite napping spot for the cats.

Looking Back

We almost bought This house. I was absolutely in love with it. Scroll down for photos of the inside. Third photo down on the right, if you can see that black square in the cabinets? That was a built in wine fridge. Yeah I know I don't drink wine usually.. but still, how cool is that?
We would have had this house if the owner hadn't backed out. Which is interesting that I see it up now. That house was me.

I wanted to show you pics of the house we did buy, but all I have are film pics and I don't have a decent scanner.
It had the wood floors, tin ceilings and the claw foot tubs. It was built like in 1890 or something and was actually on the Fort Worth Historical Tour at one time. Two-story-Four-Square house I think is what it was called. I liked it, but it was way.too.big for two people. And.. it had ghosts :) (not that I mind ghosts btw)

I liked Fort Worth, even though I wouldn't move back. I certainly don't miss Texas heat. blah. I'd like to go back to the Stockyards now with my camera. Wild to think I lived 10 minutes away and didn't have the photographic interests I do today. I also lived within walking distance of the zoo.. and rarely took advantage of it. I'll have to go back soon.

Dallas had the Main Street Arts Festival.... another reason to go back for a visit someday. Plus..duh.. I have a few friends there ;)

Why memory lane today? I don't know. Hubs was looking at real estate, and I started wondering around then wondered if our old big house was up for sale again.

It snowed again last night. I love to sit in a dark room with just the outside porch light on and watch it fall. I even walked outside and just stood in it for awhile. The silence of snowfall is amazing. I wasn't alone for long as most of the cats had to be nosy and see what I was up to.

You can definitely tell winter is here. Well besides the snow I mean. The bear are gone, the bucks are everywhere, burning wood piles and the smell of burning wood stoves everywhere.
And the house is so dry it's time for the humidifier.

I love this time of year :)

So... am I hanging on a wall in a museum, or am I like King Kong looking through the window?

I'm leaning towards King Kong :)

Thirteen Things I Have Learned Recently...

1. My mailbox will freeze shut in 10 degree temps.
2. I shouldn't try to break the ice in the horse water tank with my Uggs.
3. I can't scrape the windshield on the new truck. I'm too small.
4. The inside cats think the outside cats are evil.
5. Pregnant horses can be a little grumpy.
6. As soon as you decide to cut something out of your diet.. you'll crave it constantly.
7. The cats take the nail clippers and they hide them. Why?
8. Raccoons growl and hiss like cats.
9. Men enjoy burning wood piles WAY.TOO.MUCH.
10. My new laptop hates me.
11. Bear will shell peanuts before they eat them.
12. They don't clean up the shells either.
13. My hubs must be part bear.

Wordless Wednesday

Chose one of my own shots this week. I was watching Trout clean his face, as was Sinclair. I decided to put the group together :)

I'm still having problems posting photos through blogger...am I the only one?
Ten degrees this morning. My body has already adjusted, as I really don't need a coat now to feed the herds :) Of course, I can't stay out too long.
The pond is already frozen, as was the horses water tank last night. So I got to haul out the water heater and hook it up in the barn. Still snow on the ground, but not a lot.

Brock's outside barking his head off. You think that disturbs the hunters?

Oh darn. Posted by Picasa
