I Need Some Color

I ordered some flowers today from Here.
I can't wait :) I love having flowers in the house but obviously don't have any growing and the ones at the grocery store are just crummy.
Laura has posted pics of flowers from this same place and they are just gorgeous. I just need some color in this house.

Swimming in Dreams

After my dream post yesterday, I started thinking about other common dreams I have. Common as in I have the same kind of dream more than once.
Your answers to my last dream were interesting. To think that there's something I have yet to complete or need to finalize before moving on are somewhat true. The only thing is that i've had this same "lost" dream for years and years. I definitely loved your responses and have certainly given it alot of thought.

Which, of course made me think of another dream I used to have alot. This one was alot more stressful. Luckily I haven't had it in quite awhile.

I would be in some kind of stressful situation. Sometimes a little less stressful like a stranded car or abandoned somewhere. The scarier ones were where someone was either chasing me or trying to hurt me.
The part that was so freaky was that "if" I saw someone, I had no voice. I would scream and scream but nothing would come out.
If I was able to get to a phone, I could never dial the number right. Everytime I would dial I would mess it up and have to start over. That was very freaky and of course stressful.
"If" I did finally get someone on the phone, well you know where this is going, they couldn't hear me. I hated those dreams. Maybe you can even call them nightmares. More than once I woke up with a rapid heartbeat and a little scared.

I was reading
Christie today and she blogged about dreaming about bloggers. This I thought was funny because I have done the same. I imagine that's normal for us, considering we see, read or talk to bloggers sometimes daily. But one thing I thought interesting and funny, is if you dream about a blogger you've never seen and your dream just puts a face on them for you. How wild is that?
OR...you dream about people you've never met or even seen. Why do you see this face? Have you seen it before and don't remember? Is it someone you might meet one day?

I'm not sure why I'm into the whole dream thing lately. I've definitely been dreaming more than usual. I wonder why that is too? The last few nights my head has just been swimming in dreams.

Hmm..swimming in dreams..I like that :)

Busy Brain

I keep having this recurring dream.

I've had it for years, and it's almost always the same.
I'm in school, usually high school. I know the school, I know the people, it's not like it's my first day.
But when the bell rings, I can't remember where my class is. I can't remember how to get around the school. So my first thought is to get to my locker and get my class schedule. Of course finding my locker is also difficult. I walk through this school trying to remember where my locker is. The school is usually huge and has several different sections. I seem to remember last night that the school had a "new" section and an "old" section and I kept winding up in the old section. Plus, the old section was as if I had walked into a ghetto like area. Whereas the "new" section was like new and shiny like I had walked into Beverly Hills or something.

If I finally do find my locker, I can't remember the combination. It's a very frustrating dream. I tried to look it up but there isn't really anything that explains it.
It's usually the same each time.

Oh, except for this time, Tony Soprano was walking through the school with me :)

Sleepy Ramble

It's 3:48am....why am I awake?

Murphy Brown is on tv, I love that show.
The fire has died out, it's a little chilly in here.
I'm remembering now how I forgot to mention that my lower level flooded on Friday. Didn't I tell ya??

Yes, about 10 minutes before the hubs drove up, I headed downstairs to let the dogs out and stepped into about 2 inches of water. Soapy water. Confused? I was.
The main thing I remember most though, is that I was so relieved that finally the hubs would be home for the latest Montana issue. I actually laughed now that I think about it.

I followed the water to find the source and realized that it wasn't flowing anymore, so I just left it as is until the hubs got home. I wasn't quite sure what to do anyway. I am thankful now that we had gotten rid of all the carpet last year.

To make a long story short it has something to do with the septic line. I think.
But...it was water from the washing machine, not yucky water as you might imagine. Uggh...I would have been a very unhappy girl.
We got it cleaned up...the downstairs floor is really clean now.
Thank goodness for ShopVacs :)

Oh and The Sopranos was great...did you watch??

Small Town

I went through town today a took a few shots to show you just how small this town really is. You see the general store first. They actually have a pretty good assortment of stuff, but more expensive of course. They have a feed store on one side and a laundrymat/showers on the other side. Apparently there are alot of people up here in the mountains who don't have running water. Mmm, yum
The next photo is the old post office. We do have a new one, and it is bigger and fancier, but it didn't look as cool in B&W :)
The next two are the old and new volunteer fire department stations. Of course it's all volunteer, and I've never seen any of them in three years. We don't have police here, just a sheriff who cruises through every now and then.

A Year in Montana

It's been a year.
A year ago today I started this blog. This is pretty wild to me. It certainly doesn't feel like a year. It was only 2 weeks ago that I thought about looking to see when it actually was.

Has much changed in a year? There are a few of you who have been with me from the beginning. Thanks :)
It's definitely been an adventure and I can't imagine not having one. I tried to think back to what I did before I started. Probably watched alot more TV.

Imagine my life without my camera and my blog....eeks.

Someone asked me recently how we wound up in Montana from Texas:
--The hubs is a fly fisherman. If you've ever seen
A River Runs Through It, you've seen fly-fishing, and you've seen Montana. That movie was filmed pretty close to here and has some great scenery.
--Hubs had a veterinary conference here in Montana one year that also included fly-fishing and downhill skiing. That's all it took. He never wanted to leave.
He's in the position to travel with his work, so we were lucky to be able to live anywhere we want.

As long as I can remember, I have always wanted to live in the mountains, in a log home, with 4 seasons, and no neighbors. So...here we are.
We looked up what we wanted on the internet. Found a realtor. Looked at about 15 houses and this house was last. This house was also owned by the realtor, who now are our close friends and the "neighbors" i'm always talking about that we hang out with most of the time. I knew this was my house immediately.

We hauled up several cats and two dogs. We drove up in November and it was a horrible drive with horrible weather. But....it was all worth it.
This is a beautiful place to live.

I picked up a camera shortly after, and the rest is history:)

Changing??

I've had two really interesting things happen to me this week.

1-as you know I have been so blah the last couple of weeks. I just didn't have much energy, wanted to sleep alot and just felt BLAH.
Today, even though it has been snowing all morning, the sun has peeked through a couple of times. The sun coming through the windows and hitting me in the face made me feel almost rejuvinated. Then I remembered that one day last week, same thing. We had ONE morning of sun and it was just beautiful. Spring like. I felt great. I actually sat out on the porch for awhile and just soaked it in.
I must be dragged down lately by all the cold and grey and just didn't even realize it. Go figure. I need spring. Soon.

Of course we are under a winter storm warning again. Snow expected all week. Hmmph.

2-I'm a meat eater. I'm surprised by that sometimes considering how I feel about animals.

But I do like meat and we eat it pretty often. Plus, I'm not big on eating carbs very often, so meat and fish are a big part of my diet.
Until, the big Meat Smoking event. The preparation, the smell, the checking on it every half hour. Then, dealing with it afterwards, the cutting it up and taking alot of it off the bones, then packaging it up. Uggh. There was meat everywhere, on me, on my counters..all over the smoker.
Somehow that has totally turned me off meat. I haven't touched it all week and I have absolutely no desire to eat meat. Weird?
Course my hubs is going to choke me since he did this for me so I have food to eat on when he's gone.
I tried to have some for lunch today and the smell, the texture, everything just grossed me out.

I'm either going to have to freeze it or give it away. Hubs will be so pleased with this new me.

You think it's a phase?

Jealousy

Aren't these amazing??
Oh, how I wish I had taken these...

More Pieces of Me

I've been trying to think of stories. Pieces of me. What can I tell you? What can I share? It's been boggling my mind now. There are many many pieces to me. Some you might want to know, some you might not. Some I won't share anyway.

I really wanted a fun story. Memories like Memphis Steve has, or one of those stories like
TWM posted about being arrested. It wasn't funny then, but he can look back and laugh now. I can't think of any....
I don't have party stories.
I don't remember anything exciting from all the football games I went too.
I have many drinking stories and making a fool of myself, but those don't seem very exciting to me at the moment. They didn't end fun, and I don't look back now and laugh. heh.

Oh wait! There was this one time I "nearly" was arrested and the story is similar to his. Bunch of friends in a car, bunch of beer in the car. Lights, sirens...you know the rest. I happen to be the only one that wasn't drinking in the car. They put everyone in the back of the police car except me. They then told me to pour out all the beer. Which I did. Two cases of beer. One.By.One. They gave us the big speech about drinking/driving...you know. Then they let us all go.

There was also this one time (in band camp..hehe) as a kid that I was throwing snowballs at moving cars (yes..not quite sure what the logic was there) and one car actually stopped. This big guy got out and started chasing us. I was terrified! As I was hauling ass over a fence my pants caught. I was stuck. I tugged and tugged and tugged and finally just ripped the pants right off. I ran home in my underwear. Okay, so that was terrifying and not funny. But...it's funny now :)

My friends would never let me forget that I had
Strawberry Shortcake on my underwear. :P
Actually they called me Shortcake for quite awhile after that.
Fitting I guess :)

I Want

I really really want this.

The suit. Not the girl.

Well, I'd take that body.

I need this suit before July.

Any buyers?? Need my size?? Hee Hee.

Pieces of Me

So, I'm sitting here this morning trying to think of what to post.
I'm reading blogs. Blogs about birthdays, blogiversarys, family issues, sickness, arrests, college stories, parties....
I sat here thinking to myself, what can I blog about?? Do I have a story to tell?

No.

I can't think of one. Weird.
I got up, did the dishes while thinking about my past.
Most of you know that I don't reveal that much here. Not that I'm overly secret or anything, just that it's not a fun past. I don't want a depressing blog. Would it be depressing to read, or just depressing to write?

Please don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not sad or depressed. I don't look back and think, "Poor Little Me". Not ever. I'm who I am because of how I grew up, and I kind of like me now.
So...back to washing dishes. I thought back to childhood. Did I have a good story from then? I sadly can't recall anything really fun. I remember one good Christmas when I sat in my bed most of the night waiting to hear the reindeer on the roof.
I remember being so sure I saw an alien in my hallway. Was it a dream?? Who knows.
I remember my sister fell from a second story once and almost landed on me. I moved out of the way. Instinct I guess. She landed on cement. I wasn't sure what to do, I was only 10.
I remember blood just everywhere.
A neighbor came out, saw what happened and called my mom and an ambulance. My mom worked just down the street, she ran all the way home. Luckily, my sis only had a minor concussion and a broken nose. For the longest time I thought it was my fault. Why was she upstairs alone? Why didn't I catch her? Why did I move?

So, moving on. Teenage years.
I lived alot of places. I went to at least 7 high schools. Never really made any close friends because we never stayed long enough. My junior/senior year I was lucky to stay in the same school. I joined many groups. Marching Band, Cheerleading, Student Council, you name it. I'm not sure why now that I think back. I was not overly social. Cheerleading was really a dare and I was schocked when I was accepted. Maybe I was trying to find ways to not be home. Who knows now.

I left home at 17. Started working and figuring it out on my own. Have been ever since really.
I've had many many jobs. Most of the time I worked two at a time. I had the same cat for most of my young life until she died at the age of 23. She was my closest family and it was horrible. I was 27 when she died, I had to have her put to sleep. Her name was Booger, and I don't even think I have a picture. I'll have to look into that.

I've had interesting jobs. I worked at chocolate shop once. Pretty cool but dangerous.
I worked as a santa's elf once at Christmas. I've been a waitress, pet-sitter, office assistant, hotel receptionist, veterinary receptionist, bartender, you name it. My last 14 years of working was in a veterinery ER hospital, mainly in surgery. I loved that job.

So what's next?? I'm not sure.

More pieces to come :)

Yes, I Smoke

So I liked the Oscars. I've heard alot of people complain about them, but I enjoyed it. I thought Jon Stewart was funny. Easily amused I guess. :)

I'm glad you all enjoyed the idea of me smoking meat...heh.
It was not very fun actually. The hubs had started the smoker but then had to leave early. I wasn't quite sure what I was doing. I had to look up what the temp of meat should be to be done. There were tons of ribs and jerky in there, so it was cooking very slowly. Opening it every so often kept burning my eyes, and made my hair smell of smoked meat. Yum. What a tantalizing thought that is.

I finally finished it. The ribs turned out really well. One clue the hubs gave me was that the meat should just fall off the ribs...and it did.
The jerky I'm not positive on. But I did eat some of it last night and I'm still here today!! So...I can now add "MeatSmoker" to my list of things learned in Montana...hee hee.

Think I'll get any good hits off that search??

Let's Go Shopping!

Today I've been working on my own little store over at Cafe Press.

It's still under construction, and I'm still figuring it out, but I hope to have cards, calendars, etc. up soon. If anyone has a favorite photo you would like on an item, just let me know and I will create it.

I have ordered my own set, just to see if they are acceptible to me. I usually make my own, so they definitely have to pass the test :)

So...go visit, tell me what you think. Any suggestions or critique is more than welcome.

~I still haven't gotten over this stupid sickness, but mostly better.
~We got some bad news last night that an old Air Force buddy of the Hubs has cancer.
~It seems like i've been reading alot of that lately in blogs.
~It saddens me, and makes me realize the little petty things I whine about are just that--petty.
~Brock tried to hang himself the other day. He has to be on a line in the yard so he wont run away. He tried to jump the fence while still attached to the line. What a dork.
~I'm working on trying to find a way to sell my greeting cards, without using ebay.

~Hubs is smoking ribs and jerky today...yummmmm.
~Critter has decided he likes shoebox lids now. He's so fat though, when he lays in it, you can't even see it anymore.

Recovery

I'm slowly on the mend, thank goodness. That was the strangest illness I've ever had. As of today, it's just a sore throat and a little wooziness.

I was chatting with a friend the other night who had brought up
Carbon Monoxide poisoning and if I had monitors in my house. Actually yes, I have two. Still in their boxes from when I bought them months ago. :P
I actually remember the reason we hadn't opened them and put them up, is the realtor who sold us our house told us their is really very minimal chances of carbon monoxide poisoning in our home. Everything is either electric or wood heated.
The symptoms are basically flu like. Hmmm.
Just the mention from my friend kind of had me concerned. So, I located the monitors and opened them up and read the instructions/symptoms/causes. The potential causes of carbon monoxide poisoning are:

*Blocked Chimney
Furnace
Attached Garage
*Fireplace
*Water Heater
Range Hood
*Clothes Dryer
*Portable Heater

Hmm...I have 5 of those. Now he had me all concerned. So, I hooked up the monitor and plugged it in. Luckily everything seems to be fine.

The hubs is on his way home today, but is actually stuck in Seattle right now because of bad weather in Spokane. Seems to be frozen fog. Frozen fog--bet that looks kind of funny :)
We have a winter weather advisory going on and storm coming through. They "say" we could have up to 7 inches of snow. We'll see. I'm so glad I'm feeling better in case I have to deal with it alone.

I've also decided that Thursdays are my busiest blogging days. They wear me out!
With HNT, Thursday Thirteen,
Thursday Theme and just thinking about Photo Friday and SPF just boggles my brain. I think that's why I keep forgetting SPF....it gets put last on the list. I am going to try to remember to start playing again.

So, that's my latest. Come to think of it ( **knocks on wood**) no catastrophes this week! Yay :)

Thirteen Things I've learned since Moving to Montana, Part 2

1. I learned how to split wood, even though I'm very bad at it.
2. I learned how to get my truck out of a spin. Again, not very good at it.
3. I learned how to give a horse injections in the butt. Carefully.
4. I learned how to make homemade jam.
5. I learned that deer will react to my voice.
6. I learned how to haul 80# bales of hay by myself.
7. I learned that the bear aren't always afraid of people.
8. I learned that if you pick up a turtle on the side of the road, they will pee on you.
9. I learned that shoveling snow is quite the workout, especially if it's over 4 inches.
10. I learned that the more you drink, the less cold it feels outside.
11. I learned one of the best things is sitting around a bonfire when it's really cold.
12. I learned that my butt can handle being fallen on alot more than I thought it could.
13. I learned to adjust without restaurants, fast food, delivery, donut shops, ice cream shops, hair salons, malls, coffee shops, little sidewalk cafe's, and book stores. :(

My Wishes...

Still

So, still not feeling 100%. The symptoms have changed some though. My head, throat and neck hurt. Still tired, but not as bad. Not yet anyway. Oh, and my eyes are little puffy too. Hmmph. I'm not even sure what to take. Hubs tried to diagnose me with Mono...but I'm not sure I fall into that category anymore.

Add to that my small dog Taylor is having issues. She usually sleeps with me everynight, but lately she's been sleeping on the couch. About every 3-4 hours she goes into the barking frenzy as if someone were outside or at the door. The first few times she did this it really freaked me out. But, I started to realize that this wasn't the case. Brock didn't get upset about any of it, so I knew that there wasn't anyone there. It is though keeping me from sleeping and it's not helping this YUCK I have. The babygate might have to come out soon if this keeps up.

We've been getting an amazing amount of birds recently which I love :) I've taken pics, but with the grey and rain lately they aren't the greatest. I actually saw a red-winged blackbird yesterday, which I think this is really early. They are so beautiful and have a beautiful sound too.
The Robins andStellars are here. Chickadees and Nuthatches, Pine Siskins and GreyJeys...oh and many woodpeckers!

The sun looks like it might actually break through today, so I hope to get some better shots.
