Check Out Those Nails

Thirteen

Thirteen Things...

or maybe not if I can't think of thirteen things. It might be 9 or 10.. who knows.

1. Do you remember the burn pile? The one that the coyotes lived in all winter? Well, just recently the guys ( whoever they are) decided to burn it. No one told me.
About 4-ish, I went out to feed the horses lunch and saw the pile burning. Umm okay.. no biggie, they know what they're doing right? I shouldn't have to worry about it. It's been smoldering all week.
Well, we went to the neighbors for dinner last week and they told me that when the guy lit the fire it got out of control. He had to haul ass to another property to get this water-tank-hose type thing just in case. heh.."just in case". No one ever told me. I was home the entire time and never knew.
Nice.

2. This has been the WORST Leesa's law day I've ever had. If it will go wrong, it did today. I don't know why, but it has. I'm on my second beer so far, I'm thinking there will be many to come.

3. This baby bear is driving me nuts. I guess since it has no mommy, it hasn't learned fear. Yeah, it's terrified of other bear and runs up trees faster than anything I've ever seen. But it's not afraid of me. My paintball gun is out of air, so I have used a hose at times to run it off. Doesn't work. I haven't been able to put out any bird feed because of this little turd and he lives up high in one of my trees.
I have to keep a constant watch for it so I can scare it away.. so it makes for an uneasy day.

4. Right now Trout is attacking the soaker hose. I guess he doesn't understand where the bubbles are coming from.

5. I have a lot of pregnant mommy deer around, I guess hopefully soon I'll see babies.

6. Oh and I didn't mention, with the burn pile smoldering constantly, that I wake up in the middle of the night often because I smell something burning. Yeah, me, the girl terrified of my house burning down. Always takes me a few minutes to realize it's the pile. And I never get back to sleep very well.

7. For some reason lately I've been watching those cheesy campy scary movies. The ones that you've never heard of and don't know any of the actors. Yeah, it's usually when I can't sleep. One actually had me jump several times. All pretty dumb, but sometimes dumb entertainment is good.

8. Oh and I've also switched to coffee. Not sure why, but I drink coffee everyday, usually mid morning, and then I usually crave it again early evening. Great for the insomnia I'm sure.

9. I've gotten up at least 6 times during the writing of this post to check the yard. Yeah, wild woman here.

10. I ordered Grizzly Man on DVD. I decided I want to see it again. No reason you should care, but the thought just came to me.

11. I would kill for a big ol' large delivered pizza right now. ..with four cheeses, tomato slices and mushrooms. Oh and some of those yummy cinnamon things they advertise that come on the side.

12. Oh update on the incense.. loving them. I have found so far that I love Cinnamon and Lavender Vanilla.

13. Well I made it to thirteen and I just got up for the eighth time checking for bear. Beer refill time too.

See ya.

I Have No Caption.. yet.

This bear shows up every few days. I'm guessing she's female. She's really pretty, cinnamon in color.
She doesn't stay long and never gets too close, but what's funny to me is that she always stands up and looks around.
She stands for a few minutes, I take her pic :).. and then she moves on.
This is the same bear that was behind Pudge in the photos below.

Another Funny Lookin' Bird

What?? Look Where??

Sit Back, Relax...

This made me laugh....

I had some stuff to do outside and shoo'd him away, which he did leave. I guess I was taking too long, because he leaned up against a tree like he was bored :)

I love the foot.

I call this... "Bear with Mohawk"

She's A Climber

Activity

Just a few shots to share. Not much going on around here.
It's rainy and cool today, but the gardens are getting watered, so it works for me :)

I do have an orphan baby bear around lately. I've seen her for three days now and no mama. She's pretty much scared of everything, including the cats and especially me, but I do get a lucky shot now and then.
And, I don't need lectures about messing with a baby bear. I never leave my deck or feed her.

I've counted 5 different bear this season, baby included. There's also a youngster I blogged about before that has started hanging out with the big black bear you've seen here.
I haven't had any problems with any of them this year, except grabbing a bag of cans and dragging them around. Odd sound in the middle of the night :)

Busy Day

Put in the gardens all day yesterday.
This one decided to show up in the middle of the day. I caught her inspecting my feeders before telling her no. She listens.. it's wild.

For two days I had a baby showing up by herself. Yesterday she met up with this one. It was pretty neat to watch and I'll post those photos later. I think big bird took her under her wing :)

Busted

Had a lot of bear activity yesterday and I have a lot of photos..but this one makes me laugh. I had told him ( her? ) to leave and I thought she was leaving, but then she stopped to investigate the back of the truck. She even looked back to see if I was still there.
Of course I had to take her photo :)

And yeah.. that's my Christmas tree.

Big Bird

Well.. more like.. kinda-big-black-hairy-bear-like bird.

This is actually a baby. Big baby.

D-O-R-K

Pretty :)

Leaving His Mark

Not much new around here.
I've had the same bear everynight, usually shows up about 8-ish. If I'm not done with feedings etc, I yell at him to go away and he does. He'll usually go sit in the woods until I'm done and when I come back inside he wanders back into the yard. Pretty wild.
I don't usually feed so early in the evening, but with him around I try not to go out after dark.

He (or she) usually hangs out and nibbles on fallen bird seed etc. But last night he decided he wanted to check out the hummingbird feeders. I did run him off once and hung them a little higher, but he came back and tried again.
Not a huge deal since he couldn't get them down, but he did tip them. Now I have sticky railing, sticky deck and big sticky bear paw prints all over the front porch. Maybe he's an artist too :)

Otherwise that's about it. It's been cool 50's and rainy all week. I still have the turkey, geese, ducks and deer. Next week is gardening week.

Hand Feed ( sorta)

I had a better idea actually, but too hard to do by myself.
It's also damn cold and damn windy today :(

Da Bear

Here's Trouble.

I wish I had better shots, but timing and lighting aren't always an option. He still really hasn't caused any problems for me. He leaves when I tell him too and besides coming up on the porch sometimes, he pretty much stays to himself.
