This & That

**Tuna isn't much happier today, but seems to be calmer. She's been sleeping in the same cat bed since yesterday.
*
**I've had at least 6 Grossbeaks commit suicide since yesterday. It's just horrible how they slam against our windows. I've tried stickers, blinds, and shades. They still hit. Some are just stunned and come out of it after awhile. Some die instantly. It sucks :(
*
**I had two yesterday that hit at the same time. I put them in the bird cage and let them come back to their senses. About 1/2 hour later, they both seemed ready to be free. I let them out and they both went straight to the ground. Won't fly. Won't let me catch them either, so I guess they're on their own, or I guess the're cat food. Ugh.
*
They say this week is going to be very hot and fire danger is "Extreme". Oh Yay.
*
I hopped back on the treadclimber this morning. I've been so slack on some kind of exercise, and I used to be so good. If any of you are looking for a good exercise machine (not cheap though) the Treadclimber by Bowflex is awesome.
*
I need some pics of Sinclair, don't I?
*
That's it. That's all I have to say for now.

Your day is complete now. :P

Cat-astrophe :)
I have a kitty named Tuna. Did ya'll know that?

I acquired Tuna about 10 years ago while working in an animal hospital in Michigan.
Her owner brought her in just smothered in fleas. She couldn't have been more than a couple of months old.
We washed her several times before you could even see clear water. Extremely thin and anemic.
We discussed with the owner that she needs to treat her home and yard for fleas also before taking this kitten back home. She didn't want to. We told her she could possibly kill this kitten if she takes her back to her home. So she says, "Any of you want her?". Nice.
So I took her. I know you're shocked.
Actually at the time I didn't have any cats. I had recently divorced, and because of the situation I could not keep any of my pets and had to find homes for all the them. Yes, that was a very sucky time.
Anywayyyyyy.....I've had Tuna ever since and just recently she had decided she wants to go outside. Believe it or not, I've never been a fan of cats outside, but as some of you know, sometimes you have no choice.
She stays around the house, she greets me every morning with the other few complaining for breakfast. Good kitty, never causes any problems.
Well (you knew there was a "well" right?). I had not seen Tuna since we came home from camping. Which was VERY odd. I just knew that I had lost yet another cat to this vast forest. I really tried not to think that way and just hope she had gone on her own little adventure. I even remembered the drive with her and Dallas from MI to TX. The two of them in the cab of a HUGE Uhaul in the middle of August. Yikes.
Ok, I'm really almost to the point :)
Last night as I went to feed the herd, there she was. Lying on the porch. She looked a little dirty, but otherwise fine. I noticed later that she was not using her back right foot.
I had to wake up Dr.Hubs to look at her.
Sure enough, broken foot :(
We'll be going into Sandpoint today to have xrays done and possibly a splint.
Oh Joy.

8 weird facts about me.
(*this is a hard one, because I'm just NOT weird enough) :P
I've done this before, so some of you have heard these already--
1-I have this fear of getting a flat tire. Everytime I drive somewhere, this is my main concern.
2-I hate being barefoot unless I'm sleeping or bathing.
3-I have to have noise to sleep. Fan, music, TV..something. I even have a sleep machine.
4-The only time I will eat potato chips is if I can smash them on my sandwich.
5-I absolutely love spicy pickles and cheddar cheese together.
6-I also have a fear of uncooked food. I watch the discovery channel, I know what E.Coli can do.
7-I love fruit, but hate fruit juice. ANY fruit juice.
8-I can't kill anything. Even flies or bees. I just scoop them up and throw them outside.

Where There's Smoke....

Okay, first things first...
1-I did NOT take this photo.
2-It does not look this bad. It does look like our area though.
But...remember the lightning last night? Well it struck. Back behind us on the ridge. There's mild smoke. I can 'kinda' see it, 'kinda' smell it. I've heard planes and helicopters, but haven't seen anything.
Sigh...
Peace, Man
You Are 9: The Peacemaker
You are emotionally stable and willing to find common ground with others.
Your friends and family often look to you to be the mediator when there is conflict.
You are easy going and accepting. You take things as they come.
Avoding conflict at all costs, you're content when things are calm.

It Was a Dark and Stormy Night....

It's storming here tonight. One of the loudest, darkest I've seen in awhile. The lightening is everywhere, which is really scary when our ground is as dry as it is. I've seen it come down really close to the house too. Ugh...
I've lost satellite, and Brock is practically on the ceiling.
Anyone want to come over and keep me company??
Hmmm....

The baby bird died tonight :(
I know I hadn't mentioned that I tried to save one. This is the third baby to fall through the chimney. The other two died pretty quickly. I had put them in a bird cage I keep outside and covered them with a little towel. I knew I couldn't take care of a bird that small, their eyes weren't even open yet.
When the third one fell, on Tuesday night, I did the same thing. Wednesday morning I went out to check on her and she was still kickin'. So, I knew I couldn't just leave it out there to die. I also knew, it was probably inevitable.
I fed it smushed wet crackers and chicken broth. Later in the afternoon she had even opened her eyes. Still, I wasn't that hopeful that I could save a bird. I brought the cage in and kept her inside today. She would start chirping and I would feed her.
Well, of course it wasn't enough. Not what her momma could provide.
I don't know why I'm so bummed. Guess I'm tired.
Did I say BLAH already?
Blah :(

Camp Collage

So to continue on camping....
The guys mainly fished. We did take the 4-wheelers on a few rides. It was so incredibly dry that we were all just dustballs. One shower wasn't quite enough. You wouldn't believe how much dust this hair will hold. Blah.
I spent alot of time at camp. I actually even read a book. I had one afternoon there completely alone. I walked around with the camera some, and read. I walked through Medicine Creek, and bout froze my feet off!
As I mentioned before, every night went into freezing temps. The tent was so cold. We had one dog with us and the kitten.
I am such a light sleeper that I hear just about everything. The next tent over had a teething infant. Yes... she was miserable. I didn't blame her, or her parents of course, but it sure made for long nights.

The very cold morning came finally, only to be so cold you don't want to crawl out of bed. The crackling fire and the smell of coffee and bacon gets ya goin. One thing I do like about camping is the cooking they do. The men did the cooking mainly. We had two dutch ovens and they made some great meals. The last night of course was trout night. Fresh trout wrapped in foil with lemon, butter, garlic, spices, potatoes and onions and placed over the fire. Yummy. Oh and of course smores. I actually didn't have smores this year, but they did have a birthday cake there for me :)
