How can I be grumpy after seeing this??? Everybody say Awwwwwww Posted by Hello

Ick & Yuck

I had to do the weekly trip to Wallyworld today.
Have I ever told you how much I hate that place?? Now I know you're saying, "Well why do you shop there then?" Because, unfortunately, it has EVERYTHING. I can buy produce & paintballs & movies & a fishing license at the same time. Where else can you do all that?
Plus, remember where I am, I don't have many choices.

Anyway, surprisingly it wasn't as crowded as I had expected for a Friday, but have you ever noticed that some people walk around there like they are zombies? Like they really have NO clue why they are there? Aimlessly wandering from aisle to aisle... some with kids running rampant. Ugggh.
I was walking behind an older woman today as she meandered down the aisle. I couldn't get around her so I just had to follow molasses. Then, she get's call on her cell phone. Of course, she stops to answer it. Then, she's talking to someone else who's also in the store!! "Where are you?" "Oh there you are, I see you!!"" She is now waving at them across the store. All the while, I'm standing behind her with who knows what kind of facial expression. She then continues on, talking to them on the phone while she can see them. All I wanted to do was get to the pet food aisle. I bet it took me 5 minutes to roll down 3 aisles. She finally turned down a different aisle. Grrrr that annoys me.
Then you have the families of 8 that is usually just the mom shopping and 7 children running rampant. And I know I've mentioned this in a previous post, but there's the groups who run into each other in an aisle and proceed to have a meeting. You can't get around them and they don't seem to be in a hurry to move for you. You just stand there, or go around. Little "mini" meetings going on everywhere!!
Oh and last thing, I guess they stock shelves on Fridays because almost every aisle I went down had stockers, and boxes and there was barely enough room for the cart to scoot by, and of course my luck their stack of boxes is usually in front of something I want. Uggghhh..again.

So far I'm not having much fun today. It's pouring out, I had to move alot of my potted plants so now I'm wet too. I lost power last night several times due to a storm, so all the clocks are flashing and the hot tub is cold. Brock is wet and smells like he rolled in something dead. The Hub is delayed and now won't get home until around midnight. Serenity Now, Serenity Now!!

I think I'll go photograph something.

Good Thing I Don't Work

Bloggin at work? Check This out.

Update**Did ya'll see that Dooce is mentioned in this article?? I bet she's getting a kick out of that!!

You can look, but don't touch.....

Oh man, I've been cracking up all morning reading Cheeky's post today!! Wow, the things you find out about people....(Hmmm,M~??) LOL
I don't have anything exciting to report today. I have people clearing some trees out today and they are smoking me out with the burn pile! It does smell good, but gardening is a little hard when you've got smoke in your eyes. I've almost got all the flower gardening done. Whew! I will soon be picking strawberries and rasberries as they are getting close...so JAM soon for ya'll! Remember to send me your addresses at TXN2MT(at)AOL(dot)com.
***
You know, reading these posts where everyone answers these private questions is so interesting. How many of you have only said these things on the blogs? I for one answered a couple on there that nobody else knows. I wonder how soon before I am found out by some wandering friend?? I typed my name into Google yesterday and it finds my photo site first, but then it finds me on
Memphis Steve's blog in one of his comments. Why are we so brave on our blogs? How many of us are anonymous? I think most of us use our real names ( not many last names though). Since I'm not one to have any real close friends, I guess I feel like I can share these things with ya'll because I have never met you. Would I have done the same if we were face to face?? Hmmm...something to think about. Maybe I would. 5 years ago, NO. Makes ya wonder what else you would share if dared or tempted...(No funny ideas, M~!)
***
Living here mostly alone these days, these blogs have definitely made me some friends, given me MANY laughs and filled a void. Thanks.
Alright...I should get back to doing something productive.

I just found Post Secret ,it was so thought provoking. Is it all true? Is there really someone out there that is thought to have died on 9/11? I thought about making a card to mail in , but then it's not a secret anymore if my mail-lady can read it.
I don't know why I'm so affected by this site, but I am. I guess for some people that hide horrible secrets, this is one way to get it out. Sad. It makes me want to send a kind word to each one.
It's rainy and gloomy today. Kind of fits.

Too. Much .Time .On .My .Hands

I found The Subservient Chicken
over at Troy&Danielle's
and found plenty of funny things to have him do. Go give it a try!!
Skip, Kiss, Box, Dance, Cowboy, Play Dead, Hide, Swim, Sexy, Tango
Michael Jackson, Doggie Style, Belly Dance & Hula Hoop.
I'm still playing but those are the funny ones I have found so far. Troy & Danielle found
many funny ones too. Go on...have fun!!

I don't know if I've blogged about this yet, but this is the enclosure we worked on this weekend for my inside cats. This is completley enclosed and leads to a bedroom window. They can now go in and out and are still safe. (this is what the christmas lights were for) We're still working on it as we want to put some shelves and logs in there for them to hang out on. Posted by Hello

Front Flower Gardens Posted by Hello

Not much blooming yet. This is the garden that the deer ate all of the sunflowers last night. Posted by Hello

Garden, again. Posted by Hello

Ok, here we go. This is the garden when we started last season. Posted by Hello

Work In Progress

Okay I've taken the photos, just got to get them resized etc etc. Coming soon are garden and outside photo's of the house. It's grey today, so they won't be the best coloring they can be, and most of my flowers have not bloomed yet, so just alot of green. I figured I would start here and then keep ya'll updated on how they are coming along. We've had alot of rain, so things do look a little overgrown.
In one of the small gardens in front of the house you will see alot of flattened plants. That's from the bear. Since they will still bloom, I left them as they were. The hummingbirds and butterflies will still like them the same. The other garden in front had alot of sunflowers ready to bloom, but the deer took care of that last night. If you look close I'm sure you will see where the tops have all been eaten off, only stems left. sigghhh. I guess I'll be pulling those and replacing with deer-resistant flowers.
Ok, so let the posting begin!!

Monday,Monday

Not much to report this morning. Spent most of yesterday working on the gardens. We have one vegetable garden that is huge ( I will take pics) and then 4 flower gardens. It's quite the upkeep, especially here where I think everything grows at high speed.
The Hub is off for his 4 days of work, and it looks like it might rain today. Not good, I have many more things to get planted!
If ya'll remember my bear story from a few days ago, you'll remember that there is an office off the garage. Hub uses this as his little animal clinic & it has a cat door in it for my outdoor cats for protection, food, etc.
WELL, a skunk has either made home in their, under it, or just stopped by to spray. It is AWFUL! Uggh...I went out yesterday to search for some Christmas lights (another post to explain) and I had to keep coming out for air. Not sure what to do about this. Maybe I'll just wait 4 days and let the Hub handle it. Sound like a Hub job to me!!
No bear activity last few days, which I'm kind of relieved. I'm tired of replacing bird feeders!! I now put them out in the morning and bring them in at night or when I'm not home.
A few neighbors went fishing this weekend and put their catch in our pond, so we now have life out there, yeah! I guess I need to get out and take a few photo's so you guys can visualize.
I shall return. TTFN

This is the side view. Obviously not taken recently...I just didn't feel like walking outside just yet. Posted by Hello

The Joys of Summer

The hub comes home tonight, yeah! I shopped today. Wallyworld, Pet Paradise ( I was SO tempted to buy a kitten!! The hub would have definitely killed me!), A nursery, and our local general store for beer.
I planted today. I weeded today. Things got away from us while in CA, so it's been quite the job. I have those dry cracked hands now from digging in dirt.
**Oh and I just had to share this with Incurable Savant & Memphis Steve & Greekchickie...Our yard is full of bear poop piles!! Geez! The minute I saw all of these I thought of you ** Ain't that sweet?? They don't seem to have any problems passing thier poo.
I have many pregnant doe around, so we should have babies anytime!!
I've been slowly posting my photo's of the antique signs, etc. that I took in CA. It's been a hard decision on how to post them. I think B&W or even Sienna will give them that antique look, but then again, their original colors are familiar to alot of us. Hmmm....maybe I'll just post both!
So, as you can see not much exciting to post today. The hub's only home for the weekend so I'm not sure how much I'll be on, but I'm sure I'll post pics.
Ya'll have a great weekend! TTFN & Dud!

I'm a Thief...with permission

I stole this from kathrynhowlswithwolves
I think we should all post this on our refrigerators!!

"Eat ice cream every day

Or chocolate, or pie, cake...whatever is the treat you deny yourselves. How many years did I deny myself treats because I thought I was fat? Or thought I'd become fat? Or that that someone would think I was fat?

The chubby cheeked little girl was always inside me, hell, always is inside of me. Denying oneself. Sometimes this is good. One wouldn't want to have an affair with the person they've developed a crazy crush on and destroy others, and themselves. Or, act on another impulse that will cause harm, or hurt.
Or, eat so much of their treat that it becomes not about the treat, but covering up some hurt--the sweet coats the tongue so it won't say bitter words, and as it goes down the throat, it pushes back more unsaid words, and the gooey fills the tummy so it only seems as if good things slosh about in there.
One wouldn't want to hurt others because they have decided not to deny themselves, unless of course, the hurting is necessary for one to go on and to survive. However, denying oneself of things that make one feel good about themselves, or that give them that moment of sensory delight, the calming that comes from one single moment of "Me me me I am Me and right now it is all about Me and this bowl of ice cream."
Yes, Kerry, you to, just as I told you on your blog...it is time to make time for you.Don't you think you are special enough? Good Enough? Worthy enough? How many of you do not feel worthy? Not only for that treat, but for any good thing to happen to you or for you?How many of you, like me, will have something good, something grand, happen to them or for them and wait for the other shoe to drop?
As if, in some strange little universe inside of you, you do not feel as if you deserve it. Maybe you are selfless, always doing for others, and something done for you feels wrong. Or, maybe you've been told or taught that you don't deserve. I know that with me, there are times when something grand is going to happen to me and for me, and I will think, "Oh, I hope I don't die before it happens. Let me get to enjoy that wonderful thing at least a little while."
Now, that is the top of the list denying myself! That is thinking that says I don't deserve what is going to happen and surely I will die, or get sick, or the thing that is good will be taken from me.I'm here right now to tell you that is bullshit. I'm here to tell you that You are Worthy, and You are Good, and You deserve to take that tiny moment for yourself and have that treat.
Ice cream, chocolate, manicure, a few moments of silence, a bubblebath, a ride around the block with all the windows open with the music blaring as loud as you please, a new scarf, a new cd, telling someone how you really feel without feeling: stupid, wrong, afraid, unworthy, unhappy, selfish, or unloved.
I've decided I'm going to have a treat every day. I'm going to savor it, enjoy it, not feel guilty about it. For one day I'll blink and then I'll be gone, and why would I want to add any more Regret to my life?"

Amen.

Bear Dreams

A little reality, a little dream sharing time.

As ya'll know, I was up until about 3am this morning. At 5:30 am Brock started barking, looking at something out the front windows. He doesn't usually do this, so I figured I had a critter, mainly bear, outside. I was surprised to see how light it was at 5:30am since I am never conscious at this hour.

To my enjoyment(not), there were food bags strewn all over my lawn. My first thought was that it was trash. **We do put up all of our normal trash, but empty bags and cartons we aren't always that concerned about putting under lock & key**. Then, I had the worried feeling.
My Hub has an office off the garage, and inside that office are several bags of cat food, grain, corn and dog food, not too mention two freezers full of meat. There is a cat door on this office so my cats have protection and warmth. I was then very nervous that maybe the bear got in there. Maybe he's still in there?? eeek.

Then another scary thought came to me, what if he got in the office somehow and then shut the door behind him?? My heart was beating a little faster this time.
When I opened the front door, two of my cats tore into the house as fast as they could. Heart beating a little faster now.

I decided to take a quick walk out there (paintball gun in hand, this is merely for effect for the sound of the balls rattling makes them run). When I got about ten feet from the garage, I could smell the bear. It's hard to explain, but it's kind of wet/stank/skunky smell. yum. I then changed my mind and went back in the house. I figured if he's in there, he's in there and I can handle it later and in more daylight hours.

So....I go back to sleep within a half hour. Guess what I dreamed about? Big.Black.Bear in the office. He had cleaned it out. He was running from me so I shot the paintball gun in his direction. It hit him and he caught fire and was running toward the pond blazing. I was then SO upset that I had hurt him and possible burned him up. I went into the office and he had eaten everything. I woke up totally stressed out.

Well, about 8:30 am, I decided to take that scary walk again and see what was up. I took Brock with me. It still stank of bear but he had only drug out all of the empty bags. I did poke my head into the cat door and made sure he wasn't in the office. Whew! Fun morning!! Anyone want to come visit??

I'm going to do This. I learned about it on Primetime Live tonight.

My Interview

Insomnia's kicking in tonight & can't sleep. It's 2:17 am. WooHoo!

I was given 5 interview questions by
Marianna so here we go!

1. You are so wonderful behind the lens, capturing nature's beauty. Have you always loved takin pictures or is this a relatively newly-found passion? I have always had an interest in photography but never at this level. I think when I was younger, the reason I always wanted to photograph an event was because I wanted the memory. I had a pretty lonely upbringing and I think that whenever I had the opportunity to photograph groups of people around me, or something that made me happy, i.e. pets, sights, etc., I always had the picture to remind me of that moment. Now, when I photograph something I have a total different feeling about it. I photograph something now because I see it as beautiful or special. I want to capture this forever. I want to create it and sometimes change it. I wouldn't have called it a "Passion" before, but now I do. I have an "eye" now that I never had before.

2. Who do you admire? It can be someone dead or alive. So do I have to name an actual person here? *I admire strength and goals. *I admire when someone can bring themselves from the depths and succeed. *I admire alcoholics that can come through and survive and make ammends. *I admire drug-addicts that can overcome. *I admire anyone who can achieve their goals even though many obstacles are thrown their way. *I admire Mothers who struggle to make a good life for their children, no matter how hard it may be. *I admire those that go back to college to get a degree, even though it's costly or time consuming, to better their lives. *I admire myself sometimes because I came from a family of addicts and managed to stay on the right path. *I admire my sister because she is in rehabilitation for drugs and is succeeding well, besides the fact that she's been away from her son for over a year. *I admire my husband because he has suffered a tremendous loss recently and he is surviving well and learning to deal. I admire him because he achieved his goals and is very successful in life. *I admire honesty, selflessness & generosity. I could probably go on and on.

3. What are the top five both positive and negative changes blogging has made in your life? Well I really haven't experienced any negatives myself, but I have definitely seen how it can affect someone's life negatively, someone recently actually. The positives for me would be: 1. Made new friends. 2. Gave me a whole new world to investigate. 3. Provided an outlet for me, especially with photography. 4. Gave me a chance to have a life away from everyone else that knows me, if that makes sense. Only my Hub knows about this blog, and he never even reads it. It's mine and it's special. It's for me and my new blog family and that's it! 5. Oh, I did think of one negative.....I'm obsessed with it and feel like I'm going through withdrawal if I'm away for too long!! (o.k. so I wouldn't use "obsessed", but you know what I mean!)

4. Which would you rather do: Stand by the side of the highway naked or walk over a floor covered with broken glass? And why? I would probably choose walking on glass. It can be fixed. I have always had such a complex with how I look, and still am shy in bathing suits, there is NO way I could stand on the side of the road naked. I could handle the pain of the broken glass easier.

5. Tell me of one of the best times in your life. Hmmm, hard one. I would have to say it's now. It's the life I live right now. I am at complete peace. I have a wonderful husband & a wonderful home. Coming from a pretty stressful life before, this is the best I've ever had it. I'm very lucky. I have no worries, beside the daily happenings here at home, and that doesn't even compare to past life events. I am loved, secure, and taken care of. I never ever had the security that I do now and that's a wonderful thing to have. I'm not scared anymore. I'm not worried. I'm not stressed. I'm surrounded by animals which is for me the best comfort. My husband loves me no matter what. I can get up in the morning and smell the crisp cool air and see mountains, water and trees as far as I can see. It doesn't get any better than that! If I could give this kind of life to everyone, I would. :o)

Laura's missing. That makes me blue. I know she will still be with us in the spirit of photography. Laura, if you're reading this I hope you're o.k. I will miss your daily humor and insights.
I found out tonight that you have a TON of supporters. That is awesome. I'm one too, so just keep that in mind!
Keep an eye out for my flower photos, I thought of you everytime I took one!!

Bear Season

I sat up at midnight last night and watched two small bear in the yard. I'm assuming maybe yearlings?? They are very cute, one red and one black. The photos attached are the black one. The red one is more skittish, so I'll have to be more clever!! They have been back several times today but at least are scared if I come outside. Good thing!

Down Home

Down Home
Where they ya know by name
And treat ya like family

Down Home
Where a man's good word
and a hand shake are all ya need

Folks know
If you're fallin on hard times
You can fall back on...
Those of us raised up, down home.............

That's all I remember by memory. Alabama song.
I'm so glad to be home!!
The bears destroyed all but one bird feeder I had. I'm so bummed. I love my birdfeeders and the beautiful birds I get here!! I will have to reorder and just put them out in the mornings. There was one here today around 4-ish, hanging out in the yard. That's the earliest I've ever heard of them coming around. Ooh fun, the Hub goes back to CA on Tues.

I will be downloading pics tonight so I will finally have some to post!!
I know I already said this, but I'm so GLAD to be home!! I won't miss the traffic and the crowds and the humidity!! I lived in Houston for a few years and I remember that awful humitidy. It made me so crabby. When I was packing this morning in CA, my clothes felt like they were wet. Yuck.
Oh and my zoo is so happy to see me! I missed my little children!! Blaze is getting around so much better. I didn't mention before, but while we were gone Carmel (another horse) got an abcess on her face and had to be treated. Thankfully our pet-sitters brother had experience with horses and he treated it. Shots and all. Such nice folk around here!!

I'm havin' a Heiniken and the Hub is cooking up some stuffed Jalapeno's. Ahhh, the good life.
TTFN!!

Whew! Almost time to go home! Yeah! I miss Montana!!

The last days have been pretty fun. Thursday we drove down the Pacific Coast Highway and visited Long Beach, Huntington Beach & Laguna Beach. It was too cold to really enjoy the beaches, but we did visit. We drove up to the area of the landslides, it was really sad. I had thought for a mini-second about taking pics, but I felt too bad about it. Seventeen houses were destroyed and 30-something are red-tagged, which probably mean they won't be able to enter their homes again. They don't insure landslides, so these people are screwed. They let alot of them in their homes, escorted, to retrieve pets and a few important belongings.

Today we rode a huge ferry (pics to come later!!) to Catalina Island. It was very beautiful. We were lucky to have awesome weather. We took a few tours and rode a glass-bottom boat, which was pretty cool. I couldn't take pics on the boat though because the glass on the bottom was so thick and cloudy that they looked yucky. I do have alot of island pics though, so I'm excited to see how they turn out.

Two funny things though that made us laugh, considering our Zoo experience just two days ago. On the glass-bottom boat we were riding with a small herd of children on a field trip, and then on the ferry home we were surrounded by the entire graduating (8th grade) class of Bakersfield high school. 14o students. Too funny.
** I hope I didn't offend any mothers, etc out there when I complained about all the children at the zoo. I didn't mean anything derogatory against children, it is just so hard to do things when you've got hundreds of screaming children around!! The zoo was impossible, but the boats weren't too bad, just loud.**If you knew me, I'm just not the mothering type and not real sure how to deal with children...give me a dog or cat anytime!!

Anyway, the island was awesome and we plan on going back. Since he lives so close, it will be so easy to visit again. They have some awesome bed & breakfasts on the island, so we will definitely plan a couple of days to spend on the island. About 500 people actually live on the island and everyone drives golf carts or electric cars. Only vehicles belong to emergency and fire department and few others.

Now we're a little sunburned, a little salty (salt water) and tired!! I'm ready to go home!
We fly out tomorrow about 8, and arrive in Spokane about noon, will be in Montana about 2-ish!!
**Turn me loose, set me free, right here in the middle of Montana. Give me all I've got, comin to me. Keep your retirement, and your so-called, social security. Big city, turn me loose and SET ME FREE!!**(song lyrics)

California Updates

Ok, so a little more about our trip yesterday!
The Hub knows the veterinarian at the zoo, so we did get some "behind the scenes" action, that was really cool. I got to feed this itty-bitty monkey that's no bigger than my two hands put together, he was so cute!! I wanted to get pics but we were inside and I was afraid I'd scare him. We also saw a kangaroo on IV fluids and they were asking the Hub to consult on the case.
THAT was the good part of the zoo.
It was so crowded with children it was awful!! Like I've said before, I'm not a child hater by any means, I'm just not good around them, and there were hundreds!! You saw many many groups of 15-20 with two teachers with them. It was so loud and hard to see the animals. And they yell and whistle to get the animals attention, so of course the animals were staying away.

There was construction all over the place so we couldn't even find the Big Cats, and that's my favorite part. We followed the signs three times and still couldn't find them. After seeing some fun bear (same as at home, LOL) and seals, etc. We headed out.
**On a side note, we talked to our pet-sitter and she has had quite the bear sightings, especially ones looking in the windows. Brock actually chased one up a tree!! She took pics for me so I will post those when I get home!** I'm missing all the bear fun at home!!***Oh and I missed Brock's first experience with a bear :o(, it's almost like missing those first steps!!

We did take a scenic drive to the harbor yesterday, that was nice. We're headed out today to Laguna Beach and Long Beach, of course it's supposed to be cloudy for the next five days. Figures!! I will have beach pics for you, but they will be cloudy!!
They had a huge land slide in Laguna Beach yesterday which I'm sure ya'll have seen on the news, several multi-million dollar homes slid down. Very sad. It's not covered by insurance, can you imagine??? We might drive by there today also.

Did I mention we drove through Beverly Hills yesterday?? We went down Rodeo Drive (very cool) and Wilshire Blvd, and Santa Monica Blvd. We saw the Shrine Auditorium, and the police station that was in Beverly Hills Cop. That part was fun. Of course I did not get out and walk down Rodeo Drive, it was pretty intimidating!! Plus, that's where alot of that scary traffic was.

Ok, I've got to start getting ready!! Talk to ya'll later. TTFN

A Little Overwhelmed, Alot Underwhelmed

We're headed out for dinner but I wanted to do a quick post on my day which I will elaborate on later.
Not so impressed with the Zoo, and it must have been "School Field Trip Day" because there must have been hundreds of children there. There was construction everywhere so we couldn't find half the animals..I was really bummed. I got a few good pics, but not many. Mostly flowers!!
We drove down to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive & Wilshire Blvd. That was pretty cool, but so so much traffic! I haven't been in traffic like that in so long, it was a little overwhelming. The drivers here aren't nice at all! :o( They don't let you over into their lane, even when you signal nicely, they cut you off, and they really LOVE their horns!! My gosh, I've never seen such impatient people, and I'm from Dallas!!
Anyway, that's a BRIEF snippet, I will return tonight! Bummed I can't post some photo's for ya!
TTFN!
